È in corso un'indagine condotta dalle autorità francesi sulla piattaforma online X, in relazione alla diffusione di contenuti illegali, in particolare la produzione di deepfake, materiale pedopornografico e contenuti che contestano crimini contro l'umanità.
L'indagine è condotta dalla Procura di Parigi con il supporto dell'unità per la criminalità informatica della Gendarmeria francese (UNCyber) e di Europol. Il giorno dell'operazione, le autorità francesi hanno effettuato accertamenti negli uffici della piattaforma in Francia.
Europol ha supportato le indagini attraverso il suo Centro europeo per la criminalità informatica (EC3), fornendo competenze specialistiche in materia di criminalità informatica e inviando un analista a Parigi per assistere le autorità nazionali.
