And if anything else, the people’s response in Minneapolis to the ICE harassment also proved him wrong on his first couple assessments. The “common culture” just isn’t whatever he’s fantasizing.
So this reads like a reach for reassurance from his racist thought bubble, and as such nobody needs this half-baked idea to be explained.

Benj Edwards is the Ars Technica resident genAI booster. While his articles do appear to be more objective than they used to be, this incident seems to indicate that he is a true believer. The website Ars Technica wanted to quote blocks genAI crawlers so, according to the website's author, the authors article probably asked a genAI powered search bot to grab some quotes from the site, was unable to reach the site, and created plausible text instead. When I can find the link to that article, I will add it.
