Following a guide from GitHub in the video below the break, heโs able to get a modern version 6.14 kernel compiled with minimal options, as well as just enough BusyBox to be useful. It boots on a gloriously minimalist 486 setup, and he spends a while trying to refine and add to it, but itโs evident from the errors he finds along the way that managing dependencies in such a small space is challenging. Even the floppy itself is problematic, as both the drive and the media are now long in the tooth; it takes him a while to find one that works. He promises us more in a future episode, but itโs clear this is more of an exercise in pushing the envelope than it is in making a useful distro. Floppy Linux was fun back in 1997, but we can tell itโs more of a curiosity in 2025.

Oggi, quel sito e quella macchina sono pezzi da collezione, un vero e proprio tesoro del web. E pensare che tutto iniziรฒ con una semplice idea: condividere informazioni. Che potenza non รจ vero?
Lโaspetto grafico rifletteva la filosofia che guidava il progetto. Sfondo chiaro, testo scuro e collegamenti ipertestuali essenziali: nessun elemento decorativo, nessuna immagine. Nella proposta originaria del World Wide Web, Berners-Lee aveva chiarito che la prioritร non era la grafica, ma la leggibilitร universale del testo, ritenuta fondamentale per garantire lโaccesso al maggior numero possibile di utenti.
Un contesto tecnologico frammentato e lo standard
Alla fine degli anni Ottanta, Internet esisteva giร , ma era uno strumento riservato quasi esclusivamente a contesti accademici, militari e scientifici.
Le informazioni erano distribuite su sistemi eterogenei e spesso incompatibili tra loro: mainframe, computer personali e reti proprietarie. Tutto questo era complesso! Non essendo presente uno standard, questo non consentiva uno scambio dei dati fluido e flessibile.
Al CERN questo problema era particolarmente evidente.
Migliaia di ricercatori producevano e consultavano documentazione tecnica, ma i contenuti restavano spesso confinati su macchine specifiche o richiedevano software dedicati per essere letti. Esistevano soluzioni parziali, come ARPANET o Usenet, e sistemi di navigazione strutturata come Gopher, sviluppato dallโUniversitร del Minnesota, ma mancava ancora un modello realmente universale per lโaccesso ai documenti. Le tre tecnologie alla base del Web
La proposta presentata da Berners-Lee nel 1989, intitolata โInformation Managementโ, partiva da unโidea semplice: collegare documenti distribuiti su computer diversi attraverso una rete di rimandi ipertestuali. Tra il 1990 e la fine di quellโanno, questa visione prese forma concreta grazie allo sviluppo di tre elementi fondamentali. Documento di proposta creato da Berners lee dal titolo Information Managementโ, dove proponeva uno standard per le comunicazioni di documenti nel web Erano tre le soluzioni proposte da Berners Lee:
La prima era lโHTML, un linguaggio di markup pensato per strutturare i contenuti testuali tramite elementi semplici come titoli, paragrafi e link.
La seconda era lโURL, un sistema di indirizzamento univoco che permetteva di identificare in modo coerente ogni risorsa disponibile sul Web.
La terza era il protocollo HTTP, incaricato di gestire lo scambio di informazioni tra il computer dellโutente e il server che ospitava i contenuti.
Il primo sito della storia. La pagina cosรฌ come si mostrava allโinterno del sotto dominio info.cern.ch messo online il 20 dicembre del 1990 Queste tecnologie, ancora oggi risultano alla base della navigazione online, vennero sviluppate su un computer NeXT, una workstation prodotta dallโazienda fondata da Steve Jobs dopo lโuscita da Apple. Su quella macchina Berners-Lee realizzรฒ anche il primo browser della storia, inizialmente chiamato WorldWideWeb e successivamente rinominato Nexus. Il primo browser e il primo server
Il browser originario aveva una caratteristica oggi quasi scomparsa: non serviva solo a visualizzare le pagine, ma consentiva anche di modificarle e crearne di nuove.
Il concetto di Web che si delineava era quello di un ambiente interattivo, dove gli utenti avevano la possibilitร di partecipare attivamente alla creazione dei contenuti. Tuttavia, con lโavvento degli interessi commerciali, questa visione iniziale del web venne gradualmente accantonata, man mano che il business prese il sopravvento.
Lo stesso computer NeXT svolgeva anche il ruolo di primo server web al mondo. Per evitare spegnimenti accidentali, sulla macchina era stato apposto un avviso scritto a mano che invitava esplicitamente a non interromperne lโalimentazione, poichรฉ farlo avrebbe significato rendere irraggiungibile lโintero World Wide Web. Dal CERN al pubblico globale
Per alcuni anni il Web rimase uno strumento utilizzato prevalentemente da fisici e ricercatori.
La svolta arrivรฒ il 30 aprile 1993, quando il CERN decise di rendere il World Wide Web una tecnologia di pubblico dominio, rinunciando a qualsiasi diritto di sfruttamento commerciale. Questa scelta impedรฌ la nascita di monopoli e favorรฌ la diffusione libera degli standard.
Nello stesso periodo comparvero i primi browser grafici destinati a un pubblico piรน ampio. Tra questi, Mosaic, sviluppato nel 1993 dal National Center for Supercomputing Applications dellโUniversitร dellโIllinois, introdusse la possibilitร di visualizzare immagini integrate nel testo, trasformando il Web in un ambiente piรน accessibile e visivamente coinvolgente. Come si mostrava il browser Mosaic nel 1993. Rispetto al browser di berners Lee introduceva la visualizzazione delle immagini allโinterno dellโipertesto.
Dalle prime pagine al Web moderno
Oggi il Web conta miliardi di pagine e centinaia di milioni di domini, ma le sue origini restano legate a quellโinsieme di documenti essenziali pubblicati al CERN, oltre che a delle intuizioni che veniva qualche anno prima dal prodigio della tecnologia di Douglas Engelbart (inventore appunto dellโipertesto e del mouse).
Nel corso degli anni Novanta la tecnologia era pronta per tutto questo, e iniziarono ad apparire i primi servizi e siti di rilievo: nel 1993 nacque Aliweb, considerato il primo motore di ricerca, mentre nel 1994 organizzazioni come Amnesty International e aziende come Pizza Hut avviarono le loro prime presenze online.
Nel 2013 il CERN ha ripristinato lโindirizzo originale del primo sito web, rendendolo nuovamente accessibile in una versione semplificata. Un archivio che non rappresenta solo un documento storico, ma la testimonianza concreta dellโinizio di una trasformazione tecnologica che ha ridefinito il modo in cui lโumanitร produce, condivide e accede alle informazioni.

Secondo le informazioni diffuse dallโOFAC, Araya Navarro avrebbe agevolato nel 2012 la fuga dal carcere di Tocorรณn di Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, noto come โNiรฑo Guerreroโ, ritenuto il leader storico del gruppo. Lโimputata รจ stata formalmente accusata di sostegno materiale al Tren de Aragua in relazione al sistema di jackpotting, che avrebbe colpito anche numerosi sportelli automatici situati nello Stato del Nebraska. In piรน occasioni, Araya Navarro sarebbe stata fotografata in contesti pubblici insieme a Guerrero Flores.
Un secondo atto di accusa, depositato il 21 ottobre 2025, riguarda ulteriori 32 persone e comprende 56 capi dโimputazione complessivi. Tra questi figurano accuse di frode bancaria, furto con scasso, danneggiamento di sistemi informatici e frode informatica, con numerosi episodi contestati su scala nazionale.
In caso di condanna, le pene detentive previste per gli imputati variano da un minimo di 20 anni fino a un massimo complessivo di 335 anni di reclusione, a seconda delle responsabilitร individuali.
Secondo il Dipartimento di Giustizia, i gruppi coinvolti avrebbero operato con modalitร strutturate e ripetute. Il software era inoltre progettato per cancellare le tracce della propria presenza, con lโobiettivo di ritardare lโindividuazione dellโattacco da parte degli istituti finanziari. I profitti ottenuti venivano successivamente suddivisi secondo percentuali prestabilite.
Le indagini hanno documentato episodi di jackpotting in numerosi Stati americani. Le autoritร hanno inoltre ricostruito una mappa geografica degli attacchi e stimato, aggiornando i dati ad agosto 2025, perdite complessive per diversi milioni di dollari.
Il Tren de Aragua, secondo i documenti giudiziari, nasce come banda carceraria in Venezuela a metร degli anni Duemila e si รจ progressivamente trasformato in unโorganizzazione criminale transnazionale con ramificazioni in tutto lโemisfero occidentale. Le attivitร attribuite al gruppo spaziano dal traffico di droga e armi al sequestro di persona, dallo sfruttamento sessuale alle estorsioni, fino a omicidi e aggressioni. Negli ultimi anni, le autoritร statunitensi ritengono che il gruppo abbia intensificato anche i reati finanziari, individuando nel jackpotting una fonte di entrate particolarmente redditizia.
Nel solo 2025, il Distretto del Nebraska ha incriminato complessivamente 67 membri e dirigenti del Tren de Aragua per una vasta gamma di reati federali, tra cui sostegno a organizzazione terroristica straniera, traffico sessuale di minori, frode bancaria, riciclaggio di denaro e accesso non autorizzato a sistemi informatici protetti.
Lโoperazione rientra nelle attivitร della Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF), istituita in base allโOrdine Esecutivo 14159, con lโobiettivo di contrastare cartelli criminali, bande straniere e reti di traffico di esseri umani attive negli Stati Uniti e allโestero. Conosciuto online con lo pseudonimo di Mencius Moldbug, Yarvin รจ un ex programmatore, imprenditore tech e autore del blog Unqualified Reservations, una lettura che definire indigesta รจ un complimento.
Il suo assunto di partenza รจ semplice, brutale e per questo pericoloso: la democrazia liberale occidentale non governa piรน nulla. O meglio, governa solo in apparenza. Il potere reale, secondo Yarvin, non risiede nei parlamenti, ma in una struttura informale e autoreferenziale composta da media, accademia, burocrazia e apparati tecnici. Una rete che lui chiama โla Cattedraleโ.
La Cattedrale non impone leggi, ma definisce il perimetro del pensabile. Decide quali idee sono legittime, quali sono โpericoloseโ, quali vanno silenziate. Non serve la censura esplicita quando il controllo รจ culturale. Un concetto che, a chi lavora nel mondo cyber, suona tremendamente familiare: controllo senza visibilitร , governance senza accountability, potere senza responsabilitร .
Da qui Yarvin fa un salto che molti considerano inaccettabile, ma che lui reputa semplicemente logico. Se la democrazia รจ una finzione e il potere รจ giร concentrato, allora tanto vale smettere di fingere. Meglio un potere esplicito, centralizzato, responsabile, dichiarato. Meglio un sistema autoritario efficiente che una democrazia inefficiente e ipocrita. Nasce cosรฌ la sua idea piรน controversa: il neo-cameralismo, ovvero Stati gestiti come aziende, con un CEO al comando e cittadini ridotti ad azionisti o utenti.
Qui il lettore medio si ferma, inorridito. Ma chi lavora nella sicurezza dovrebbe andare avanti. Perchรฉ, tolta la provocazione politica, Yarvin sta descrivendo esattamente il modello operativo delle big tech. Piattaforme private che governano spazi pubblici, prendono decisioni sovrane, applicano regole, sanzioni e algoritmi senza alcun processo democratico. Meta, Google, Amazon, Microsoft: non votiamo i loro board, ma subiamo le loro policy. Non eleggiamo i loro CEO, ma le loro scelte impattano diritti, economia, informazione e sicurezza nazionale.
La domanda scomoda non รจ se Yarvin abbia ragione nelle soluzioni. La domanda vera รจ se non abbia giร ragione nella diagnosi.
Nel mondo cyber parliamo ossessivamente di attacchi, ma molto meno di chi controlla lโinfrastruttura che difendiamo. Parliamo di sovranitร digitale mentre deleghiamo tutto al cloud. Parliamo di resilienza mentre concentriamo il potere tecnologico in pochissime mani. Parliamo di democrazia digitale mentre accettiamo sistemi opachi, algoritmici, non auditabili. In questo contesto, Yarvin non รจ un profeta, รจ uno specchio che non vogliamo guardare.
Ovviamente le sue idee sono pericolose. Lo sono perchรฉ giustificano lโautoritarismo, riducono i diritti a variabili di sistema e trattano lโessere umano come una componente sacrificabile dellโefficienza. Ma sarebbe un errore liquidarlo come un pazzo o un reazionario nostalgico. Yarvin รจ figlio diretto della cultura tech, non il suo opposto. ร il pensiero di Silicon Valley portato alle estreme conseguenze, senza marketing e senza storytelling etico.
Ed รจ qui che il mondo della cybersecurity dovrebbe fermarsi un attimo. Perchรฉ se la sicurezza serve a proteggere sistemi, dati e persone, allora dobbiamo chiederci quale sistema stiamo davvero proteggendo. Una democrazia formale svuotata? Notably, the 8087 uses a stack-based architecture, a major departure from existing FPUs. Recently [Ken Shirriff] took a literal closer look at this stack circuitry to see what it looks like and how it works.
Nearly half of the 8087โs die is taken up by the microcode frontend and bus controller, with a block containing constants like ฯ alongside the FP calculation-processing datapath section taking up much of the rest. Nestled along the side are the eight registers and the stack controller. At 80 bits per FP number, the required registers and related were pretty sizeable for the era, especially when you consider that the roughly 60,000 transistors in the 8087 were paired alongside the 29,000 transistors in the 16-bit 8086.
Each of the 8087โs registers is selected by the decoded instructions via a lot of wiring that can still be fairly easily traced despite the FPUโs die being larger than the CPU it accompanied. As for the unique stack-based register approach, this turned out to be mostly a hindrance, and the reason why the x87 FP instructions in the x86 ISA are still quite maligned today. Yet with careful use, providing a big boost over traditional code, this made it a success by that benchmark, even if MMX, SSE, and others reverted to a stackless design.

There are a lot of options for local weather stations; most of them, however, are sensors tied to a base station, often requiring an internet connection to access all features. [Vinnie] over at vinthewrench has published his exploration into an off-grid weather station revolving around a Raspberry Pi and an RTL-SDR for communications.
The weather station has several aspects to it. The main sensor package [Vinnie] settled on was the Ecowitt WS90, capable of measuring wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity, light, UVI, and rain amount. The WS90 communicates at 915 MHz, which can be read using the rtl_433 project. The WS90 is also available for purchase as a standalone sensor, allowing [Vinnie] to implement his own base station.
For the base station, [Vinnie] uses a weatherproof enclosure that houses a 12V battery with charger to act as a local UPS. This powers the brains of the operation: a Raspberry Pi. Hooked to the Pi is an RTL-SDR with a 915 MHz antenna. The Pi receives an update from the WS90 roughly every 5 seconds, which it can decode using the rtl_433 library. The Pi then turns that packet into structured JSON.
The JSON is fed into a weather model backend that handles keeping track of trends in the sensor data, as well as the health of the sensor station. The backend has an API that allows for a dashboard weather site for [Vinnie], no internet required.

Further experiments involved developing a tool for creating quality G-Code for these engraving tasks, and even using the same techniques on leather with great success.

[Andrew] picked the PIC12F683 for decapsulation because back in 2011 it was the first microcontroller he broke read-protection on and he wanted to go back and revisit this chip, given particularly that his resources and skills had advanced in the intervening period.
The five videos are a tour de force. He begins by taking a package cross section, then decapsulating and delayering. He collects high-resolution photos as he goes along. In the process, he takes some time to explain the dangers of working with acid and the risk mitigations he has in place. Then he does what he calls a โfloorplan analysisโ which takes stock of the entire chip before taking a close look at the SRAM implementation.

Prima di parlare di questa storia, vogliamo spiegare cosโรจ il CRISPR, acronimo di Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats: una tecnologia di editing genetico derivata da un meccanismo di difesa naturale dei batteri contro i virus. In pratica, CRISPR funziona come un sistema di taglio e correzione del DNA: una proteina (come Cas9) viene guidata verso un punto preciso del genoma, dove puรฒ tagliare una sequenza difettosa e permettere alla cellula di ripararla o sostituirla con una versione corretta. Questo approccio consente di intervenire direttamente sulla causa genetica di una malattia, rendendo possibile una medicina di precisione che non si limita a curare i sintomi, ma modifica lโorigine stessa del problema.
Lโintelligenza artificiale รจ uno degli elementi chiave che rende possibile lโediting genetico personalizzato. Prima ancora che CRISPR venga utilizzato, lโAI analizza enormi quantitร di dati genomici per identificare con precisione la mutazione responsabile della malattia, distinguendo gli errori critici da variazioni genetiche innocue. In tempi estremamente ridotti, gli algoritmi confrontano il DNA del paziente con database globali, simulano gli effetti delle modifiche e aiutano a progettare le sequenze guida di CRISPR piรน efficaci, riducendo al minimo il rischio di interventi fuori bersaglio. Senza questo livello di analisi automatizzata, una terapia costruita su misura per un singolo bambino sarebbe semplicemente impraticabile.
Il contributo dellโAI non si ferma alla progettazione della terapia. LโEditing genetico e la malattia di KJ
Allโinizio dellโanno, i medici del Childrenโs Hospital di Philadelphia hanno somministrato un trattamento che allโepoca non aveva equivalenti clinici. Hanno creato un editing genomico personalizzato per KJ, mirato a una rara malattia metabolica congenita. Tali disturbi derivano da difetti nei geni responsabili di processi biochimici chiave. Nei neonati, spesso portano a gravi complicazioni e, in alcuni casi, sono fatali nei primi mesi di vita.
KJ รจ stata la prima persona a ricevere una terapia genica progettata non per un gruppo di pazienti, ma per una mutazione specifica in un singolo bambino. The focus requires a bit of effort to set up and weโre guessing that every lens becomes extreme telephoto due to the tiny sensor, but weโre sure hours of fun could be had.

Compared to that, the beefiest 3D printhead is effectively weightless, and the Creality Sprite unit heโs using isnโt all that beefy. Getting the new hardware attached uses (ironically) a 3D printed mount, which is an easy enough hack. The hard work, as you might imagine, is in software.
As it turns out, thereโs no profile in Klipper for this bad boy. Itโs 26-year-old controller doesnโt even speak G-code, requiring [Brian] to feed the arm controller the โABB RAPIDโ dialect it expects line-by-line, while simultaneously feeding G-code to the RAMPS board controlling the extruder. If you happen to have the same arm, heโs selling the software that does this. Getting that synchronized reliably was the biggest challenge [Brian] faced. Unfortunately that means things are slowed down compared to what the arm would otherwise be able to do, with a lot of stop-and-start on complex models, which compromises print quality. [Brian] hopes to fix that by making better use of the ABB armโs controller, since it does have enough memory for a small buffer, if not a full print. Still, even if itโs rough right now, it does print, which is not something the engineers at ABB probably ever planned for back before Y2K. [Brian]โs last use of the arm, carving a DeLorean out of styrofoam, might be closer to the original design brief.

This Week in Security: PostHog, Project Zero Refresh, and Thanks For All the Fish
As one might expect, it all starts with a Server Side Request Forgery (SSRF). Thatโs a flaw where sending traffic to a server can manipulate something on the server side to send a request somewhere else. The trick here is that a webhook worker can be primed to point at localhost by sending a request directly to a system API.
One of the systems that powers a PostHog install is the Clickhouse database server. This project had a problem in how it sanitized SQL requests, namely attempting to escape a single quote via a backslash symbol. In many SQL servers, a backslash would properly escape a single quote, but Clickhouse and other Postgresql servers donโt support that, and treat a backslash as a regular character. And with this, a read-only SQL API is vulnerable to SQL injection.
These vulnerabilities together just allow for injecting an SQL string to create and run a shell command from within the database, giving an RCE and remote shell. The vulnerabilities were reported through ZDI, and things were fixed earlier this year.
FreePBX
Speaking of SQL injections, FreePBX recently fixed a handful of SQL injections and an authentication bypass, and researchers at horizon3.ai have the scoop. None of these particular issues are vulnerable without either questionable configuration changes, or access to a valid PHP session ID token. The weakness here seems to be a very similar single quote injection.
Another fun SQL injection in FreePBX requires the authorization type swapped to webserver. But with that setting in place, an injected authentication header with only a valid user name is enough to pull off an SQL injection. The attack chosen for demonstration was to add a new user to the users table. This same authentication header spoof can be used to upload arbitrary files to the system, leading to an easy webshell.
Google Project Zeroโs Refresh
Weโve often covered Googleโs Project Zero on this column, as their work is usually quite impressive. As their blog now points out, the homepage design left something to be desired. Thatโs changed now, with a sleek and modern new look! And no, thatโs not actually newsworthy here; stop typing those angry comments. The real news is the trio of new posts that came with the refresh.
The most recent is coverage of a VirtualBox VM excape via the NAT network driver. Itโs covering a 2017 vulnerability, so not precisely still relevant, but still worth a look. The key here is a bit of code that changes the length of the data structure based on the length of the IP header. Memory manipulation from an untrusted value. The key to exploitation is to manipulate memory to control some of the memory where packets are stored. Then use IP fragmentation packets to interleave that malicious data together and trigger the memory management flaw.
The second post is on Windows exploitation through race conditions and path lookups. This one isnโt an exploit, but an examination of techniques that you could use to slow the Windows kernel down, when doing a path lookup, to exploit a race condition. The winner seems to be a combination of nested directories, with shadow directories and symbolic links. This combination can cost the kernel a whopping three minutes just to parse a path. Probably enough time.
The third entry is on an image-based malware campaign against Samsung Android phones. Malicious DNG files get processed by the Quram image processing library on Samsung devices. DNG images are a non-proprietary replacement for .raw image files, and the DNG format even includes features like embedding lens correction code right in the file format. This correction code is in the form of opcodes, that are handled very much like a script or small program on the host device. The Quram library didnโt handle those programs safely, allowing them to write outside of the allocated memory for the image.

The E-note domain and servers have been seized by law enforcement. Itโs believed that $70 million worth of ransomware and cryptocurrency theft has passed through this exchange service, as part of a money laundering operation. A Russian national has been named as the man behind the service, and an indictment has been made, but it seems that no actual arrests have been made.

of my many tags, possibly my most "important" ones are #AusPol, #FOSS, & #Linux. in order to be able to efficiently locate all posts with these tags each day, rather than have to meticulously scroll down the full "Network" timeline [which is dissipated via also having all the other tags, & all my Followed accounts' posts], in Settings i created three dedicated Channels [one for each of those tags, ofc]. then i added each of those custom Channels to my Timelines, in Display Settings.
however, the result is just hopeless; really disappointing & frustrating. over recent years i have had several Friendica accounts, ie, at several instances, & doing the above has never worked properly in any of them, not only my current instance.
using the AusPol Channel for example, as it is the worst by far, every time i check it, its most recent post is several hours old, & often as bad as 12 - 18 hours old, with numerous other posts entirely missing.
i say "missing" because otoh, reviewing my Saved Search for #AusPol shows all these other posts, which therefore also appear, buried, in my full "Network" timeline.
over the months & years in exasperation, i have revisited the dedicated Channels in Settings, & for the Circle/Channel field have tried each of Latest posts, Latest Creation, Global community, & Latest activity, but none of them has solved the problem [indeed, a few make it even worse!].
please, what am i doing wrong? what aspect of Friendica's Settings have i been consistently misunderstanding / misusing, that causes this disappointment?

With this setting you won't see any posts that haven't got attached pictures, videos or audio files. Also you should use "global community" as the channel to base the channel on. The channel "Latest posts" that you are using here shows only posts that you already have got in your timeline.

OMZ! clearly i had no idea... i thought by ticking those boxes i was merely including all such posts along with text posts, not as you said actively excluding all text-only posts... that's a calamitous misunderstanding! that part of the Settings now desperately needs explanatory text there to guide users like me who had no way of knowing what you just explained.

so now i shall be very keen to see if, tomorrow morning, the behaviour has become much better 🤞 🤞 🤞

well ok, but i repeat part of my OP... atm, & historically, HEAPS of my followed-tag posts that are in my timeline [albeit "lost" amongst all the hundreds of other posts], simply never would also appear in my applicable custom channel for that tag. that said, now that you've also told me about those three ticked boxes, maybe that was causing what i just mentioned...?
Just try it out. You should already see the outcome of your changes, since channel posts are collected based on the current definition. You don't need to wait for some hours.
@Michael ๐บ๐ฆ haha, you beat me to it... i just came back here to excitedly post a positive update... it is now working much much much better! it is now close enough to my originally envisaged ideal use-case as to be neither here nor there. finally, this is great! thx so much for --again-- solving one of my Friendica puzzles ๐ค๐
@Droppie [opensoc] Thanks for having asked. I had understood the three checkboxes as declaring things not to be left out and not as a filter for things having to be a part of a posting to be included in the channel, too. Life-long learning. ๐ @Michael ๐บ๐ฆ
@Michael ๐บ๐ฆ @Friendica Support @Droppie [opensoc] I suspect that he is concerned about the fact that the posts in the channels arrive delayed. Iโve been observing the same thing since Iโve been using these channels.
@Thomas fwiw... she. it's not just delayed, it's never appearing at all [or, if they happen to appear >24 hours late, then i regard that as "never", coz my desire / use-case is to use these custom channels first thing in the morning to see what happened overnight, then periodically check them during the day for subsequent new posts on those tags]. by the time tomorrow morn comes around, i'm then looking for the new batch, not still wondering where all those missing ones yesterday got to. how it actually works atm entirely breaks that desire. my biggest confusion about this is that i know my instance is able to access all those posts, coz me doing that manual tag search proves it... so why does the custom channel, configured also for that tag, fail to find the same posts? and i repeat, this is NOT a criticism of my current instance; all my older Friendica instances also failed at this. @Michael ๐บ๐ฆ

I believe if you follow hashtags, posts with those tags appear on your 'Home' tab, not the 'Network' one. I believe the Network one is just the latest posts from other people in the Fediverse. But I could be wrong.

@Marcus they work but are far less convenient than a custom channel. eg, my channel "FOSS" includes hashtags #Linux, #FOSS, #Firefox, #FirefoxNightly, #Thunderbird, #Arch, #ArchLinux, & several others. To do it manually just by my saved tag search links requites the tedium of having to do all those searches individually in series, not automatically in parallel as done by the channel.
