I found while scouring the manual for my fridge, looking for the magical keypress to reset the water filter indicatorยน, that it has a Sabbath mode.
You enable the mode on a Friday afternoon with a series of keypresses that hopefully no gentile ever accidentally engages.
During Sabbath mode, the fridge continues to operate, but the light doesnโt come on when you pull the door open. The door-left-ajar alarm doesnโt sound. The compressor no longer cares if the door is opened and happily chugs along to its own schedule. If there a blackout then the fridge comes back on in Sabbath mode.
Saturday after sunset you press a button to return your fridge to normal operation.
This is so cool! I love the attention to detail. But then I remind myself that this is the same fridge that has a race condition on the light that the water dispenser operates, so I wonder how well the feature has been tested.
