It's either just nothing or some regional name/abbreviation and they just assume everyone in the world has to know where that is.
There's a reason I'm not just stating "I live in OÖ" or "I live in Mühlviertel" in my bio...
(similar for Germans in Germany, who also hardly ever point out that they live in Germany but then like to assume that everyone who writes in German must be talking about Germany. Maybe it's a phenomenon of bigger countries? They think they're the default?)
It might if your country sucks, or the people who identify with it strongly tend to suck, or it has a history of the people who indentified with it very strongly in the past sucking very badly.
In particular, there are a lot of people in quite a few countries who aren't especially proud of their governments right now.

FYI, if you've already grabbed the 2.0.0 release for the new stable 2026.01 please go download it again. There was something that got missed in the Dark Mode stylesheets. I didn't bump the version since it was supposed to be part of this update, I just replaced the release with the fixed version.
This does not affect the release for the old stable 2024.12 version.

🤬 Apparently, we're getting another cat... I managed to push it off until after my kissmate gets back from her [scheduled for] 2 week stay at a [neck/shoulder/spinal] Rehaklinik across the Rhine, which starts Wednesday.
I threw a hissy fit: no way is she saddling me with acclimating a new cat while she takes off for two weeks, possibly longer.
Otherwise I would have had to get her today. Instead, we'll be getting the cat at the end of February.
She's a 2ish year old chipped British Shorthair named Leila.
The owner is a Kaffeeklatsch buddy of my kissmate. I'm fuzzy on the details of why she wants to rid herself of a perfectly beautiful and pedigreed pussy.
I don't want another cat.
I'm angry because once again, it happened "behind my back". No input from me was sought, and guess who gets to do all the work?
I doesn't matter that I'll love her dearly. I love all cats, even the assholes. I love Fuck You We're Getting Another Cat, which is Harley's "real" name, too.

I have just noticed that the noodles I am cooking have a symbol on the packaging indicating it is five (out of five) chillies, and is labelled “Made in Sichuan”.

A few shots of the re-built train infrastructure heading north from Colombo in Sri Lanka. The famous Kandy-Ella line is not yet operational and the impact of the cyclone will clearly be felt for years to come (forever for those who lost homes and loved ones) but it is truly amazing how much work has been done to repair the devastation.

After each prisoner exchange, as Ukraine's defenders return home, streets are lined with locals holding Ukrainian flags and signs, welcoming the heroes back.
In the latest exchange, one young child stood out - undeterred by the freezing cold, she came to greet the returning defenders and offer her quiet thanks.
