Спотовая цена ⁠на золото к 15:04 МСК держалась вблизи $4.618,⁠06 за тройскую унцию.
«(Золото и серебро) просели после ‌того, как Трамп дал понять, что пока ‍что не будет нападать на Иран, а ‌США отложили введение пошлин на импорт критически важных минералов», – сказал Уле Хансен из Saxo Bank.
По его словам, именно тревожная международная обстановка в последние месяцы ⁠вызвала необычно большие потоки металла ‍в Соединенные Штаты, и так повышенные в преддверии ‌возможного введения пошлин.
Серебро тем временем снизилось на 1,6% до $91,27 за унцию, однако в ходе сессии установило новый ценовой рекорд в $93,57.
«При нормализации серебро может подешеветь против золота на треть, в результате чего ‍соотношение (цен ‍на золото и серебро) поднимется до 70», - добавил Хансен.
Палладий подешевел на 0,‍25% до $1.822,36 за унцию, а платина - на 0,63% до $2.369,18

МОСКВА, 15 янв (Рейтер) - Казахстан с января 2026 года снизил стоимость заправки «в крыло» ⁠зарубежных грузовых и пассажирских воздушных судов до $930-$1.000 за тонну c $1.200 за тонну, ⁠сообщается в пресс-релизе госкомпании Казмунайгаз (КМГ).
КМГ ⁠отметил, что правительство Казахстана принимает меры, направленные ⁠на повышение конкурентоспособности отечественных аэропортов и усиление транзитного ‌потенциала страны.
По информации КМГ, ‍в настоящее время его дочерняя ‌структура - Казмунайгаз-Аэро - имеет прямые договоры на заправку «в крыло» с рядом ведущих международных авиакомпаний (Turkish Airlines, Turkish ⁠Cargo, FlyDubai, Red ‍Sea, Air Cairo, Somon Air, FlyMeta и ‌Silk Way West Airlines) и рассчитывает привлечь других операторов.
Кроме того, Казмунайгаз-Аэро совместно с казахстанской логистической компанией осуществил поставку пробной партии авиатоплива марки Jet A-1 ‍напрямую от ‍производителя – с нефтехимического завода Dushanzi Petrochemical (Китай), говорится в ‍пресс-релизе госкомпании.
Казахстан планирует произвести в 2026 году порядка 0,75 миллиона ⁠тонн авиакеросина РТ и ТС, по данным отраслевых источников.

МОСКВА, 15 янв (Рейтер) - Рубль тяготеет к ослаблению днем четверга с учетом текущего падения нефтяных цен, но которые при этом остаются на относительно высоких уровнях, что может смягчать российской валюте негативный эффект от их внутридневной просадки. Рубль одновременно не показал яркой реакции на формально негативное для экспортной выручки решение ЕС снизить с ⁠1 февраля потолок цен на российскую нефть до $44,10 за баррель.
Участники локального рынка отмечают сбалансированность текущих реальных денежных потоков на покупку-продажу инвалюты, а также пониженную спекулятивную активность в отсутствие ярких новостей и ясности с валютными операциями Минфина по бюджетному правилу после переноса ведомством публикации параметров со среды на последующие ⁠дни.
К 15.00 МСК пара юань/рубль расчетами «завтра» котировалась на Мосбирже по 11,26, и рубль теряет ⁠полпроцента. Здесь, помимо попыток отыграть внутридневное падение нефти, негативное влияние на рубль может оказывать факт роста юаня до 32-месячных пиков.
Беспоставочные однодневные фьючерсные контракты на пары юань/рубль, ⁠доллар/рубль, евро/рубль котировались на Мосбирже по 11,27, 78,80 и 91,99 соответственно, и рубль дешевеет на 0,5% к юаню, ‌на 0,6% к доллару, показывая минимальные изменения против евро.
На форексе пара доллар/рубль котировалась к 15.00 МСК по 78,‍60, согласно данным LSEG, и рубль теряет 0,1%.

В столице Республики Коми Сыктывкаре днем 15 января произошел пожар, последовавший за взрывом внутри Центра профессиональной подготовки регионального управления МВД на улице Менделеева в Эжвинском районе. В результате взрыва и задымления пострадали по меньшей мере девять человек, сообщили в пресс-службе Минздрава Коми. По данным ведомства, восьмерых раненых госпитализировали, четверо из них в крайне тяжелом состоянии. Еще один пострадавший от госпитализации отказался и получил помощь на месте происшествия. Из здания было эвакуировано около двухсот человек.
По данным Shot, взрыв произошел в актовом зале здания, которое находится на ремонте. «112» пишет, что в здании взорвалась светошумовая граната. Это подтверждает и Минздрав. По информации Mash, после взрыва гранаты разорвался также газовый баллон, из-за чего загорелись строительные леса у здания. Пожар в учебном центре МВД был локализован на площади 340 кв. метров, отчитались в МЧС региона. В УМВД по Коми объявили проверку «по факту возгорания крыши». ЧП произошло во время учебных занятий с личным составом, сообщили в ведомстве.
Следком завел уголовное дело по статье о халатности (ч.2 ст. 293 УК РФ). На месте работают криминалисты. Все пострадавшие при взрыве светошумовой гранаты в учреждении МВД в Сыктывкаре являются его курсантами, уточнили в УМВД.

В 2025 году российские банки выдали физическим лицам 27,5 млн кредитов на общую сумму 9,89 трлн руб. Это следует из данных консалтинговой компании Frank RG, которые публикует РБК. По сравнению с 2024 годом объем предоставленных кредитов сократился на 25,6% и стал минимальным за шесть лет. В количественном выражении выдачи кредитов упали в 1,8 раза год к году и показали антирекорд с 2020 года, когда в стране бушевала пандемия коронавируса.
При этом выдачи снизились во всех сегментах. В частности, в 2025 году банки предоставили россиянам кредиты наличными на 3,5 трлн руб., что почти на 39% ниже значений предыдущего года. Это худший результат за девять лет. Количество беззалоговых ссуд упало на 38% — до 19,6 млн сделок против 31,7 млн годом ранее. Результат оказался сопоставим с уровнем 2021 года. Объем выданной ипотеки за год снизился на 9% — до 4,3 трлн руб. За весь год россияне заключили 902,2 тыс. ипотечных договоров, что на 18% меньше результата прошлого года.
Рынок автокредитования завершил 2025 год сокращением примерно на четверть в денежном и количественном выражении. Объем предоставленных ссуд составил 1,71 трлн руб., а число заключенных договоров — 1,2 млн. Также в прошлом году банки предоставили 5,8 млн POS-кредитов на покупку товаров на 277,6 млрд руб. По сравнению с 2024-м объем выдач снизился на 36%, а количество — на 61%. Сегмент пережил мощный откат — число и сумма заключенных договоров оказались на минимуме за всю историю наблюдений (с 2014 года).

Минобрнауки изменило правила распределения бюджетных мест для поступающих по квотам. Теперь незаполненные места целевого набора, а также особой квоты для сирот и инвалидов будут передаваться участникам войны с Украиной, их родственникам и детям медиков, умерших во время пандемии коронавируса. Ранее такие места переходили в общий конкурс. Ведомство разъяснило новый порядок приема в вузы на 2026 год агентству ТАСС.
Если провести расчет по показателям прошлого года, то «участники СВО» и их родственники могли бы претендовать как минимум на 120 тысяч бюджетных мест из 580 тысяч. Это почти в 2,5 раза больше, чем предусмотрено действующей квотой в 50,9 тысячи.
Так, в 2025 году на целевой набор в вузах было выделено 116 тысяч бюджетных мест, но востребованными оказались только 47,2 тысячи. Сиротам и инвалидам положено не менее 10% от общего числа мест — в прошлом году это 50,8 тысячи, однако данные о таких поступивших Минобрнауки не публиковало.
Таким образом, в 2025 году остались вакантными 68,8 тысячи мест от целевого набора и неопределенное количество — от квоты для сирот и инвалидов. По новым правилам их отдали бы участникам войны с Украиной и их родственникам.
С 2022 года по указу президента Владимира Путина вузы обязаны выделять не менее 10% бюджетных мест для бойцов «СВО», однако университеты могут увеличивать эту долю — на данный момент так поступили 138 образовательных учреждений. Российский Минфин сообщил, что откладывает на неопределенный срок публикацию ежемесячных данных о нефтегазовых доходах федерального бюджета. Отчет, который должен был появиться в среду, 14 января, не был опубликован на сайте ведомства. Согласно сообщению Минфина, его обнародование «переносится на ближайшие дни». При этом сроков ведомство не называет.
Декабрь принес российскому бюджету обвальное падение цен на сорт Urals: его средняя стоимость составила $39,18 за баррель и стала минимальной с мая 2020 года. По сравнению с ноябрем главный экспортный сорт российский нефтяников подешевел на 13%, а если сравнивать с началом прошлого года — более чем на 40%.
В результате, по расчетам Reuters, нефтегазовые доходы бюджета в декабре могли овбалиться почти вдвое в годовом выражении — до 410 млрд рублей, минимума с августа 2020 года. За весь прошлый год поступления в казну от нефти и газа ожидаются в размере 8,44 триллиона рублей, что на 2,7 трлн (-24%) ниже итогов января-декабря 2024 года (11,13 триллиона рублей).
В бюджет текущего года Минфин заложил 8,9 трлн доходов от нефти и газа. Но по факту с нынешними ценами и скидками они будут на 1,1-1,4 трлн рублей ниже плана, оценивает экономист Дмитрий Полевой.
В результате дефицит казны, который запланирован на уровне 1,6% ВВП, может достичь 2,5-2,7% ВВП, а на покрытые выпадающих поступлений правительству придется задействовать остатки Фонда национального благосостояния, предупреждает эксперт.

Российский рынок микроэлектроники и электронных компонентов в прошлом году сократился на четверть и продолжает зависеть от иностранных поставок. По данным Ассоциации разработчиков и производителей электроники (АРПЭ), объем рынка электронных компонентов — микросхем, электроники — по итогам года снизился на 25% и составил 288 млрд рублей. Из этого объема лишь 26% приходится на продукцию российской разработки — 74,9 млрд руб. Остальное состоит из импортных поставок, сообщил CNews исполнительный директор АРПЭ Иван Покровский. По его словам, выпуск отечественной электроники сокращается второй год подряд. По данным АРПЭ, рынок откатился к уровням 2021–2022 годов. В 2021 году объем составлял 259 млрд рублей, в 2022-м — 256,8 млрд. В 2024 году рынок временно вырос до 384,6 млрд, однако доля российской продукции тогда также не превышала 26,7%. Максимальное значение было зафиксировано в 2023 году — 32%, после чего начался спад.
«Доля российских компонентов напрямую зависит от спроса со стороны предприятий оборонно-промышленного комплекса. На гражданских рынках она пренебрежимо мала. При этом финансирование гособоронзаказа сокращается, а доля иностранных компонентов в ОПК растет по мере перехода на новые поколения военной техники», — пояснил Покровский. Основным заказчиком электронных компонентов остается оборонный комплекс — на него пришлось 43% рынка. Sono sicuro che l'AI lavora su formule matematiche riconoscibili, sicuramente si può creare un database con tutte quelle canzoni che hanno certe ricorrenze comuni. E poi ci sono gli ascoltatori un po' scaltri, che ci mettono dieci secondi a capire. Infatti Bandcamp chiede anche segnalazioni da parte umana per poi verificare.

[Help Design Lemmy] Joinlemmy website and New User Onboarding

When people are told about Lemmy and look for it in a search engine, join-lemmy.org is one of the first pages that comes up. Here they should be able to find out what Lemmy is, and be able to register an account to start posting.

At the moment this still seems too complicated, so I'm looking for your suggestions to improve it:
- On the main page, is the text relevant and up to date or should anything be changed?
- How about the instance selection wizard (click "join a server" on the homepage), which lets you select topics and languages to select instances. Do the current options make sense?
- The instance list itself, is there any information missing, or potential design improvements?
- And the list of apps, what can be done here? For one thing the data is rarely updated, so we would appreciate pull requests.
- Any other suggestions you may have.

In the instance list, the link to lemmyverse.net/communities seems broken right now, it only works if you remove the /communities path and then navigate to communities from the UI itself (it seems to be their own bug, it also happens if you go to the communities tab and refresh the page). Maybe the link could change to point to lemmyverse.net/ instead.

Because I've not looked at it since I signed up 2.5y ago, just went through to see how many clicks to get to a sign up page.

5 clicks is maybe slightly on the "too many" side. Perhaps language selection could be auto selected by browser language and/or default to multi.

Though randomness highlighted a 2nd issue that might not be especially visible. I got Lemmy.zip as my top suggestion so I hit the sign up button and I was greeted by a "blocked in my country because my government are idiots" page. Now I understand why the admins have made that choice, but for a new user who stumbles onto Lemmy by accident, does the 5 clicks and gets greeted by a user journey terminating error page, it's probably going to result in a fair amount of bounce.

Now I know it can't be perfect given instances don't declare by API where they are available, so I guess it would need to be a manually curated list, but maybe a feature to push instances down the list if they're geoblocked in the user's IP country

The 5 clicks is with the selection dialog, if you click "See all servers" instead (or the "Join" button in the top menu), you get to the instance list directly and can be done with 2 clicks. What do you think about renaming the button "Join a server" to "Instance selection wizard" or similar?

The country blocks are tricky, to know about this we would have to add data for allowed_countries or blocked_countries for each instance (and keep it up to date). I guess you are in the UK?

Take languages from `Accept-Language` instead of manual input

In the instance selection wizard there are explicit buttons for language selection. It would be easier if we read the languages from Accept-Language instead, just like the Lemmy backend does on sig...

It seems that Australia introduced some similar laws recently, and we can expect other western countries to follow their example over the next years. These could be handled by builtint geoblocking in Lemmy, but I'm not sure if it would really be flexible enough.

Then there is also the case of countries blocking certain websites/instances via DNS, for example China. This is not so noticable now because we have few users from such countries, but it may also get more relevant as Lemmy grows. And this is not something which can be specified on the instance itself.

The cleanest solution would be to run a service in various countries which pings the different Lemmy instances to see if they are reachable. But that would be complex to setup, and expensive to host (unless we rely on volunteers, which makes it even more complex to manage).

You can also quick join with the third button "See all servers". Again the button texts are maybe not clear enough. It could make sense to add a button "Visit random instance" directly on the homepage, similar to

I must have remembered that wrong about filtering NSFW, because now I cant find that filter anywhere. But seeing as there is only one NSFW instance in the list and its clearly labeled as such, it seems fine like this.

Join Lemmy button is redundant. In fact I don't think it should even exist. All the buttons have got to go and people should directly see the "what are your interests" selection menu.

Donation button can be on top, but I don't think it's handy to have it at onboarding when people don't know what Lemmy is

You mean those grayscale images by the features? Those are just general placeholders to avoid having all text. There arent really any images which are relevant to show for a software project.

Maybe that can be added as a filter. For now I added an icon to instances which require email to signup (#523).

Language customization should be less emphasized, or should be put in the “interests” section based on their country IP while joining. On the internet imperialist English has been considered the default language. The join-Lemmy page is English to begin with.

It uses the language configured in your browser. For me it shows in Spanish. We can also use browser language to filter the instance list without manual selection.

Frontpage buttons and topic selection are definitely the trickiest part. I would consider removing the topic selection, because there are some which barely narrow it down (technology, general or politics each show a few dozen instances), or shows only a few instances which dont match well. Plus the topics are not actively maintained.

I would avoid using instances without "lemmy" in the name like reddthat, it was very confusing to me when I started out.

I think I agree with that, at least for now. The only topic instance with real specific activity in that list is probably blahaj for the LGBTQ.

The new front page looks much better and cleaner. Not sure about the "Apps" though, people need to create an account first so. Maybe "Instance selector"? Also I'd call it "Mobile Apps" instead, "Apps" is a bit vague.

I still plead for removing both buttons and directly showing the "instance selector" in the middle area, with the "See all instances" showing in the top bar only. Maybe slightly more prominently than the other top bar

That makes sense. I went through the list and found these as reasonable defaults: lemmy.zip/, lemmy.today/, thelemmy.club/, lemmus.org/

Then it would be one of the monthly tasks for @dessalines@lemmy.ml and me to go through this list and keep it updated.

I don't think link aggregator is a good term at all. If I said that to my mom she would never imagine anything like Reddit, she'd probably think of Google instead. Forum would be much better. "Discussion forum" would fix the issue with it being too short.

Or even "forum with voting and comment trees" lol IDK, I feel like anything is better than "link aggregator".

I haven’t looked at that site in a few years.

One thing I always think about though, in order to get a better distribution of users across instances, maybe not put the biggest instances at the top (like Lemmy.world) but instead put active medium to large size instances at the very top. But not that they are too small or too inactive such that user signs up on an instance which is not properly maintained or used, giving them a bad experience and possibly losing their instance/account.

And maybe offer different levels of option selection for any type of sign up wizard. Like advanced options could let you specify a bunch of stuff. But maybe have a simple option, like googles old “I’m feeling lucky” button. But you might call it “Pick an active instance for me” or something like that. Which might again use the above sizing and activity guidelines to pick an instance for them.

Lemmy.world is already excluded from the list as it has more than 30% of active users. And the list now uses a "biased random" sorting by default, with larger instances always near the top, and smaller instances further down.

Are there any specific options you would like to see? I did just add an icon to indicate instances which require email verification (#523), but also dont want to overload the UI with too much info. And I made some changes to the homepage, including a button to open a random instance (#524).

I think the colour scheme and dark-mode screenshots contributes to it looking daunting. You even have Matrix (the film)-text in the open source banner photo. The website looks like it's trying to sell the Lemmy software instead of the Lemmy user experience/community. I think just changing those photos to gentler more iconographic or symbolic ones would go a long way towards making it lighter to process. In fact in-fact, those concepts don't really need pictures to make them easier to communicate, but the features list probably does. There's a paste-icon and then it says "Clean, mobile-friendly interface.". I think just having a mobile screenshot would communicate that way better.

As for helping the user find an instance: If you can find a concise way to communicate what federation is, that'll probably take some of the anxiety away. I don't really know how. What do people think about maybe showing like a "80% federated" type stat? Tag

We dont have any designers on the team so these things are always tricky for us. The images are quite arbitrary, so if you have any specific suggestions for better images I would be happy to replace them.

For a normal user it shouldnt be necessary to understand federation before signing up. Tags are tricky because they are dont exist in Lemmy itself, and the ones defined on joinlemmy are practically unmaintained.

I see what you mean about user count, the current layout makes it seem like the most important metric to compare instances, when in reality it doesnt matter so much. Plus the tooltips are wrong, these are only numbers for local users and local comments, federated ones are not counted (and unfortunately are not available from the API at the moment). Is there any other information you would like to see instead of these numbers? The ones I see which are relevant and easily available would be:
- Number of linked/blocked instances
- Downvotes enabled
- Languages

Ok so I think it would be best to have two ways: One really completely foolproof way, where the user does not need to know a single thing about the technologies involved. 0 upfront homework for the user.

And then a second way for users willing to take the time to do a 'manual setup'.

I created an AI slop clickable mockup real quick as it's easier to bring the idea across than describing it with lots of words. This only covers the foolproof way.

The main idea being to remove all possible friction for users who are the opposite of tech savvy - which imo are the absolute majority of all users.

The tricky part is preselecting a server for them. It is shaping up very nicely! One more nitpick: cloud that button say something like 'Join Lemmy (instance name)'?

So that any fool understands what it does. Join instance name has the potential to confuse some people, because they don't know what joining instance name means - especially if some instance is chosen which name is more on the cryptic site.

This is likely a biased opinion, but could you add 'region' as a field, or 'regional' as a topic? For our instance, I think that's how a lot of people are choosing to make an account with us given recent events. It also helps the user find an instance that is nearby (for lower latency), and within a jurisdiction that they are familiar with / can have an influence over through voting or other means. pangora.social seems to be down right now, but I recall them having a nice way of organizing that

Another biased opinion, I agree that it's better to have large instances near the top since they're more likely to be up / fixed quickly / on top of moderation. You could include a note saying that larger instances are near the top because of XYZ, and that people can always make more accounts down the road if you change your mind. That way there's less pressure to pick the "correct" instance.

If I were to try and critique the site in excessive detail, from top to bottom:

Could you make the logo have a rectangular / circle background around it? Right now edges look odd over the dark background. The hover effect looks nicer, maybe with different colors
In the header: News, Docs, & Contact can be collapsed into a dropdown under 'About' or something similar, since those are pages that someone would go searching for
Instead of 'Join a server', 'Donate' and 'See all servers', it might be better to have one massive "Join a Server" button/card on the front page that leads to the instance list page.
- Join a serve and See all servers are very similar for a user that's not familiar with how this all works, and they end up in the same place. So instead of a popup, could you have it as a responsive widget on the instance's page? That way users can quickly figure out how the instances are tagged
- Since the donate button is already in the header, it might be better to have a large section on donations further down the page.
The paragraph is a large block of text. I'd prefer something closer to what Peertube did
The screenshots could be larger and more prominent
The images give off 'AI generated' vibes, even if that wasn't their origin. Could you have large cards with simple icons, similar to the 3 header cards on our site: fedecan.ca/en/
I like the 'Create your own discussion platform' card's format. It's a bit hard to read, but otherwise nice
The 'more features' section could be simplified down to the important points, and maybe even combined with what is being done with the screenshots area

On the servers page:

The community explorer and fediverse observer are external sites, but they look like widgets right now.
Is every instance under one topic, or would it be possible to let the user select multiple and have instances appear and disappear from the list live?
I like Pixelfed's join page since I can quickly narrow down an instance based on what's important to me: pixelfed.org/servers

With Peertube they have a good designer on board to make these graphics. We are all programmers, so its very difficult to make a good design without more concrete suggestions.

i18n / internationalization support for > 30 languages
RSS / Atom feeds for All, Subscribed, Inbox, User, and Community.
By hosting your own server, you can be in full control of your content.

It might be good to indicate that the instance in the first card is a random instance, and not an official or 'flagship' instance. That way, if it links to a poorly moderated / maintained instance, it doesn't reflect poorly on the project. My personal preference would be to have the Browse All Servers be the primary button, and then the join button be secondary. A refresh button might also work: "Refresh for a new randomly selected server"
Very minor, but some of the images are light mode while others are dark mode. It might look better if it was consistent

I was proposing having an automated system that uses the server IP (or another method), and then overriding it with any manually entered information from that file. That could be paired with an extra visual indicator or filter method to differentiate between the two.

Its not random from the whole list, but selected from a curated list (currently only lemmus.org and thelemmy.club, see #545). Its displayed like this because a lot of people complained that choosing an instance is too complicated.

That's fair. Maybe you could add a line above those buttons saying something like "

We already have server location based on the IP shown on join-lemmy.org, and this can also be used for filtering. There are a few ideas to improve it further, most importantly Regional Instances for Quick Join.

I think the description starts off too technical - "link aggregator" is correct, but not a term that many people know about. "Selfhosted" might even be lost on most people.

Perhaps something more simple would help as a first introduction, there's plenty of opportunity for the more technical-minded to learn more. Maybe calling it a "network of content-sharing and discussion forums"? I'd love to put "decentralized" at the front, although I'm not sure how obvious that term is.

It should show the user an instance based on their IP, location, browser language etc. and perhaps the list of possible instances should be hardcoded.

Also it would be neat if instance admins could automatically set a certain set of "subscribed instances/communities" and "blocked instances/communities" for each new user that signs up on their instance. That would make it easier for instances to give themselves a certain "flavor" so users have an easier time finding interesting stuff.

How about the instance selection wizard (click “join a server” on the homepage), which lets you select topics and languages to select instances. Do the current options make sense?

I do think the "topic"/"language" selection screens make sense overall.

Also what i noticed is that on
join-lemmy.org/
when you select certain topics (like "Art/literature" and "german speaking"), then the resulting instance list is empty. It might be wise to show at least one instance for every search query, even if it's not 100% fit. For example, at least display one generic-topic instance for your language or one english-language instance for your topic.

Just be careful to not drive all traffic to only large instances, because then people who run smaller ones may not get enough users to keep doing it. How healthy will Lemmy be if everyone uses the same five instances?

Its already a bit of a problem with the large instances being so dominating.

On the new UI i'm not sure what is the difference between "country" and "language" (btw "Country" isn't translated in the french version, the translation would be "Pays"). What I can guess is that "country" is the country where the server are hosted, but I'm far from sure with the current wording (and I'm a technical person, most peoples would definitively not guess it). If that is the case, I would rename it with "hosted in" or something similar.

Concerning the language selection I also find it disturbing to not be able to select multiple language (in my case I speak both french and english, so I would want to select both but not "all language" as I don't speak german for example). If you allow multiple language selection then instances speaking both language should be displayed before the ones where they speak only one of the language (I don't know if instances with multiple language exists right now ? but we could imagine it in the future).

Good point, I renamed it to "hosted in" and also added a filter by continent ath the same time (github.com/LemmyNet/joinlemmy-…). Translations are contributed by people like you via Weblate, contributions welcome!

Multiple language selection would be both complicated to implement and also complicated to use. Not even joinmastodon.org has it. I would simply select the language which is less common, for French there is only a single instance.

WordPress Federation: Recap of 2025

In June, we published our 2025 roadmap: Building the Future of WordPress Federation, outlining the areas we wanted to focus on for the rest of the year.
As we step into 2026, it’s time to look back at how the roadmap held up and what we shipped in 2025.
2025 at a Glance

2025 turned out to be an ambitious and, at times, challenging timeline. Even so, we were able to make meaningful progress across most of the areas we set out to work on.
Over the course of the year, we introduced the Following feature, significantly expanded moderation tooling, refined actor handling, and improved the reliability and performance of core federation workflows. Along the way, we also shipped a first experimental draft of the Reader, offering an early look at what reading the Fediverse inside WordPress could become.
Not everything on the roadmap was completed, but we’re happy with how much we were able to achieve and with the foundations that are now in place for what comes next.
Roadmap

Below is a review of the roadmap topics we outlined for 2025, what we worked on, and what remains open.
Followers / Following ✅

Work in 2025 expanded ActivityPub beyond followers by introducing the Following feature, allowing WordPress sites and users to actively follow accounts on the Fediverse.

Alongside this, we improved the reliability and performance of both follower and following lists, including better synchronization across instances and faster resolution and display of large collections.
This work also laid the foundation for later features, such as the experimental Reader.

Actors ✅

We continued refining how local and remote actors are represented and resolved. Internal refactors reduced special-case handling and improved consistency and performance across actor resolution, including follower, following, and block lists.
This work primarily affected internal behavior rather than user-facing UI.

Moderation ✅

In 2025, ActivityPub-specific moderation was significantly expanded. Site-wide and personal blocking now cover domains, keywords, and individual actors, with consistent checks applied to incoming activities.

We added blocklist subscriptions with scheduled syncing and bulk domain imports, including support for community-maintained lists such as the IFTAS DNI list. Moderation handling was also refined with improved reject behavior for quote interactions.

Reader 🧪

An experimental Reader UI was introduced behind a feature flag. When enabled, it adds a “Social Web” area to the dashboard where posts and shares from followed accounts can be read inside WordPress.
The feature is disabled by default and explicitly marked as experimental.

Direct Messages ⏸️

Direct Messages were not implemented in 2025. This remains an open roadmap topic for future consideration once related foundations mature further.
Fully Delete Profiles ✅

Deletion semantics were improved to better support explicit federated cleanup. Delete activities are now sent when WordPress users are removed, and deletion-related handling was aligned across activity processing.

A CLI-based self-destruct command was introduced to allow site owners to explicitly remove their site’s federated presence.

Client-to-Server API ⏸️

Client-to-Server API support was not implemented in 2025. No user-facing features shipped under this topic.
Beyond the Roadmap

While the roadmap helped guide our focus in 2025, not everything that shipped was planned from the start. Some features emerged from day-to-day usage, feedback, and practical needs that became clearer over time.
A few of those are worth highlighting.
Quotes

Support for quote interactions improved significantly over the year. We refined detection and handling of quoted replies and links, added proper handling for quote comments, and improved how quote permissions are revoked when quoted content is deleted. This made quoted interactions more reliable and consistent across instances.

Onboarding
We also improved onboarding for new users by adding clearer guidance and better defaults after plugin activation. This helped reduce friction for sites federating for the first time and made initial setup more approachable.

Extra Fields UI
While not originally planned as a roadmap item, work on Extra Fields resulted in a more flexible and user-friendly UI. New blocks and layout options made it easier to display federated profile data in different formats, allowing themes to choose how much structured information to surface.

Wrapping up

Looking back, 2025 was a year of steady progress. We focused on the foundations we set out to improve, shipped meaningful features along the way, and left room for unplanned work that addressed real needs as they came up.

Thanks for the insights. Looks great!

Also cleared up a misconception I had. Initially thought the reactions block was the aggregate of all interactions with the site but after seeing it integrated on the activitypub blog article it's related to the post it's integrated with.

Hope it also includes posting without reference to anything else + maybe a content block to show that post feed.

It's awesome that the wordpress website will be a full fledged participant on the fediverse.

Jesi, la campagna "vai piano!" premiata a livello europeo

Per una volta in Italia possiamo essere orgogliosi per un'iniziativa per la #sicurezzaStradale.

Si tratta di una campagna rivolta ai guidatori di veicoli motorizzati, a cui viene mandato messaggio che la strada è di tutti, che è loro responsabilità non mettere in pericolo chi non è protetto da una gabbia di metallo.

Piccola curiosità: l'opposizione aveva attaccato la campagna, perché in una delle immagini si vede una sagoma di quella che avevano identificato come INA donna musulmana col velo, (spoiler: sbagliavano e comunque dove sarebbe il problema? L'invasione secondo loro 🤣).

Chi mi diagnosticò un 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙗𝙤 𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙤 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙧𝙤 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙤 mi disse che avrei dovuto chiedere il riconoscimento della disabilità, siccome la mia giornata lavorativa non avrebbe dovuto superare le sei ore. Ho evitato perché il riconoscimento non mi paga lo stipendio.

Sono entrato nel #Fediverso per superare il mio #autismo; è un lavoro che faccio su di me anche in ricordo della mia mamma. Come il Mork di Robin Williams, qui nel Fediverso 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘰 𝘶𝘯 𝘱𝘰'. E ogni sera a Orson, compagno d'infanzia andato via troppo presto, racconto qui il mondo folle che si è perso.

Il 6 febbraio 2025, il capitano Snow mi ha accolto nella sua astronave 𝘚𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘧𝘢𝘯. Da allora per me è iniziata questa ulteriore avventura, che — di emozione in emozione — mi ha portato in seguito a diventare addirittura admin dell'astronave.
#Snowfan è uno spazio federato libero, indipendente e critico. È una micro-comunità con una visione. Per me è un onore farne parte.

Sono anche moderatore di una stanza #Matrix che si chiama "Aspetti tecnici del Fediverso" e che è dedicata allo scambio di esperienze riguardo ad amministrazione e moderazione d'istanze. Anche se le mie competenze sono molto limitate, cerco d'imparare qualcosa di nuovo.

Grazie a Francesco Macchia che mi ospita nell'istanza #Friendica Poliverso.org, ho fondato un 𝙏𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙤 per gli amici dell'omonimo 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘦, e una piccola agorà che ho chiamato 𝙋𝙞𝙖𝙯𝙯𝙖 𝘽𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙤𝙣.

Insomma sono sempre il solito caprone, però provo a migliorare.

[Anthony Francis-Jones], like us, has a soft spot for the educational electronic kits from days gone by. In a recent video you can see below, he shows the insides of a Philips EE08 two-transistor radio kit. This is the same kit he built a few months ago (see the second video, below).

A New Life For An Old Amplifier

An audio amplifier was once a fairly simple analogue device, but in recent decades a typical home entertainment amplifier will have expanded to include many digital functions. When these break they are often proprietary and not easy to repair, as was the case with a broken Pioneer surround-sound device given to [Boz]. It sat on the shelf for a few years until he had the idea of a jukebox for his ripped CDs, and his returning it to life with a new main board is something to behold.

Internally it’s a surprisingly modular design, meaning that the front panel with its VFD display and driver were intact and working, as were the class AB amplifier and its power supply. Leighton non cita mai direttamente Cloudflare ma si rivolge chiaramente a lei quando dice che sebbene esistano capacità per combattere la pirateria senza impattare sulle prestazioni, non tutte le reti di distribuzione dei contenuti (CDN) le possiedono o scelgono di implementarle.
