Well, usually because the only reason to be there is arriving into the city by bus (where you spend a brief time here), or more commonly, leaving the city by bus.
And when you want to be at home, you're left stood waiting for a bus that hasn't turned up in one of the most ugly spots in the city center, where there is always some "action" happening - drunks, drug addicts, pick pockets, groups of chavs causing trouble.
Manchester has some great spots, but this isn't one of them.

My feeling is that you could ask that of anything you prep and the answer is that setting this stuff up ahead of time adds depth and texture to the world because fixing the number ahead of time will inform other creative decisions.
You could just wing it, but the cognitive load this approach demands is tiny compared to the benefits.

(Eine Zeit vor den Kindersitzen) Damals hat meine Mutter den Reflex entwickelt, bei Bremsungen die Kinder festzuhalten - sie hatte den Reflex auch noch lange, als wir alle angeschnallt waren und die Kinder schon lange erwachsen waren

Schwierig ist es, wenn die Person hinten einsteigt. Dann seh ich es unter Umständen halt nicht. 🤷🏻♀️
