Chi crea vuole visualizzazioni per rispondere a chi compra spazi pubblicitari. Per ottenere ciò e raggiungere più pubblico possibile la proposta è costruita secondo "quello che uno vuole vedere".

Hi Nutomic, thanks for joining the forum.
While I have you, I wanted to ask you about the removal of audience from Lemmy. I believe the rationale for it was that it was not used outside of Lemmy, but both Piefed (rimu@piefed.social) and NodeBB use it.
I still think the explicit use of the audience property is more helpful than not.
I discovered another use case for it, although it is a bit of an edge case. Last night a user from lemmy.ca posted to activitypub@community.nodebb.org. Here, there are no followers to that group actor, so it did not federate here. However, one of the relays this site subscribes to did Announce the topic, and when it arrived here, NodeBB could not accurately determine whether the topic/post _actually belonged to activitypub@community.nodebb.org.
Specifically, it is because sometimes users (on Mastodon or other sites) mention group actors but don't intend for the post to be made there. It is not a strong enough signal.
But audience being explicitly set does provide that strong signal. I've updated NodeBB's code to trust the group actor if located in audience.
Re: Lemmy's removal of audience in posts?
I feel like that being explicit is more advantageous. There are some subtle edge cases that it helps work around.

Ein Bereich, in dem es mir an Empathie fehlt, ist definitiv die Anerkennung von Statussymbolen. Mich stößt ritualisierte Verschwendung ab. Ich finde nichts so erbärmlichen wie das angeben mit einer Luxusuhr.
Aber ich war jetzt in einem männlich dominierten Businesskontext, wo Leute wirklich auffällig erwähnten, "ein Auto mit b" zu fahren.
Und ich frage mich - das ist so weit verbreitet und wird offensichtlich von gut gebildeten Leuten in hohen Positionen anerkannt. Erkenne ICH hier was nicht?
Die Formulierung war "ein Auto mit b"? Bevor ich den Thread gelesen hatte, wäre ich davon ausgegangen, dass damit BMW gemeint wäre.
So oder so: Ich kann mit Statussymbolen und diesem Rumprahlen auch nichts anfangen. Wobei ich tatsächlich auch ein paar Menschen mit viel Geld kenne, die Luxus besitzen, (Sportwagen, Segelyacht, ...) aber kein Stück damit prahlen und total geerdet sind. Leider scheinen die Leute aber eher in der Minderheit zu sein.

in reply to Hypolite Petovan • • •@hypolite @futurebird Cucomo is the king of NY, ran as a dem despite being more right than anything else, lost the rank choice vote in prelims to Mamandi (a young Muslim dem social who ran on lgbtq rights, dealing with housing crisis, etc) and then decided fuck it ill run as independent because he lost the dem nomination. Cucomo proceeded to outspent Mamandi by 7 to 1 (because hes a rich king like person) and attack his religion and skin color, but because Mamandi had power of the people he smashed the mayoral race anyway and won.
Dem party needs to fucking wake up. What happened in NY is the story of how we get better. Give people a good candidate who speaks up for truth and justice and equality and stares down billionaires, they’ll win fine.
(I probably spelled names wrong, but its too early in the morning and proper nouns are hard).
