Today I learned that Madonna took a Public Enemy instrumental interlude called Security of the First World (1988) wholesale and made it into the full song Justify My Love (1990).

I enjoy the sampling culture in rap and hip-hop, but there's no hommage here, and that a White woman straight up took the work of Black men makes this relationship without attribution the more icky for me.
