People with too many followers may sometimes be glad to interact (like me) but more often they receive too many replies and they are already tired, bored and uninterested, eg. because it is not work for which they are paid for (among other reasons). Their sense of humor may just be incompatible with yours.
By following people with few followers, you can get very random results. Most of them are inactive... because they have too few followers, too few interactions, too little interest in their content. You may help some of them by following them, but the most likely the result will be big, safe, harmless Nothing.
So choosing the people with just right number of followers and posts, coming from interesting instances, may be the best choice. I don't want attack or insult the mastodon.social crowd, but they are likely to be normies, staying in their safe zone, put there by their default app setting.
Choose wisely, because you are now forming the bubble, which is likely to form you future Fedi experience! This is the "algorithm", here.

è molto più che "sensazionalismo", è la narrativa del "se l'è cercata" che sposta il focus sulla vittima trasformandola in attore principale dell'aggressione mentre costruisce l'innocenza del carnefice.

Esiste un dovere etico, prima ancora che professionale: rispettare la dignità delle vittime, soprattutto quando la morte è violenta e il dolore è ancora vivo. Raccontare la cronaca significa dare voce ai fatti, non svestire una persona della sua dignità. Significa ricordare chi era la vittima, non come appariva. Ma evidentemente il morboso attrae di più
è una violenza mediatica sia per la persona che non c'è più ma anche per la sua famiglia etc, terribile. Non basta che perdi una persona importante ma i media cercano pure di buttarci merda addosso, quasi a legittimare la sua morte..

Just watched the beginning of the video. Pitching generative AI as a video game analogy to make music, talking about "multiplayer mode" is the most depressing thing I've heard this week. I love music, I applied for a job at a concert hall. Seriously, no AI model can replace the feeling of inviting friends over, jamming, trying to cover a song and just having fun.
I am so opposed to AI in all its forms. The first 2 minutes were already depressing enough, for again it's someone's (the Suno man's) power, overwhelming everybody, way before anyone can intervene saying it's not such a good idea. It's like a big muscle guy imposing his force on a young woman without her consent. I hate that very much.

Or you could just emulate the VIC-20 in your browser thanks to the work of [Lance Ewing].

Very-long baseline interferometry (VLBI) is a technique in radio astronomy whereby multiple radio telescopes cooperate to bundle their received data and in effect create a much larger singular radio telescope. For this to work it is however essential to have exact timing and other relevant information to accurately match the signals from each individual radio telescope. As VLBI is used for increasingly higher ranges and bandwidths this makes synchronizing the signals much harder, but an optical frequency comb technique may offer a solution here.
In the paper by [Minji Hyun] et al. it’s detailed how they built the system and used it with the Korean VLBI Network (VLB) Yonsei radio telescope in Seoul as a proof of concept. This still uses the same hydrogen maser atomic clock as timing source, but with the optical transmission of the pulses a higher accuracy can be achieved, limited only by the photodiode on the receiving end.
In the demonstration up to 50 GHz was possible, but commercial 100 GHz photodiodes are available. It’s also possible to send additional signals via the fiber on different wavelengths for further functionality, all with the ultimately goal of better timing and adjustment for e.g. atmospheric fluctuations that can affect radio observations.
