🚨 UniSapienza suffered a cyberattack
In recent reports, Università #LaSapienza di Roma disclosed a significant cyberattack on its IT systems, which disrupted multiple digital services and blocked access to key platforms for students, faculty and staff.
Authorities, including the university’s IT security teams and national cybersecurity agencies, are actively investigating and working to restore systems while assessing the full impact.
In 2011 a major coordinated attack hit 18 Italian universities, including Sapienza, where hackers stole personal data such as passwords and email addresses from academic databases.
This was attributed to a group claiming affiliation with #Anonymous.
Although not Sapienza, Università #RomaTre suffered a significant ransomware/IT disruption in May 2025, with systems and web services taken offline and requiring intervention from the Italian Agenzia per la Cybersicurezza Nazionale and police to restore operations.

Google agreed to pay $68 million in a settlement in a class action lawsuit brought by smartphone users who claimed that Google Android was eavesdropping on their conversations and using them for marketing purposes. Google, of course, insisted that this was not the case and that the phone only records/decodes audio after the phrase ‘hey Google’ is spoken – which is nonsense in itself, because in order for the phone to hear this phrase at all, it must first ‘listen’ to everything that is said. A Minneapolis story:
Today, I took my kid to the neighborhood park to go ice skating. A beautiful thing about this city is that •everyone• has a neighborhood park: early in the city’s history, planners made it a goal to have a park within walking distance of every single residence. They didn’t have to shoehorn this goal in; they built up the city around it. There are little parks all over the city, many just a couple of blocks in size.
And in the winter, they flood the athletic fields: ice rinks!

A small crowd swooshes up to her. I was worried she might have hit her head, but no: she’s fine, and she’s laughing. And she looks up at these concerned strangers staring down at her, and just grins herself silly. Her friend is laughing now too. I say, “Count body parts!” and she cracks up again. She’s really, really bad at ice skating, and all these strangers just want to make sure she’s OK, and they love it that she’s here.
