«Направление обращения о возможном привлечении поддержки ⁠со стороны государства соответствует рыночным практикам и диверсифицированному подходу компании к обеспечению долгосрочной устойчивости бизнеса, с учетом консервативного подхода к прогнозу макроэкономических параметров», - говорится в сообщении компании.
До этого на протяжении 2024-2025 годов Центробанк и Минстрой сообщали ⁠о тяжелой ситуации в строительной отрасли, в том числе в связи со сворачиванием ⁠программы массовой льготной ипотеки и повышением ставок. Чиновники готовили антикризисные меры поддержки для отрасли, предполагая избежать прямого выделения бюджетных средств ⁠конкретным компаниям.
Накануне РБК сообщило со ссылкой на письмо главы Самолета Анны Акиньшиной в правительство о просьбе компании ‌предоставить льготный кредит на 50 миллиардов рублей на срок до трех лет для защиты ‍интересов дольщиков и инвесторов. Соответствующее письмо гендиректор компании направила главе правительства Михаилу Мишустину в середине января.

МОСКВА, 5 фев (Рейтер) - Рубль в четверг продолжает дорожать второй день подряд, и локально и извне, а поддержкой выступает текущий баланс денежных потоков в пользу продавцов инвалюты, нехарактерный для начала календарного месяца, когда экспортеры обычно сезонно снижают предложение выручки после уплаты налогов.
В качестве ключевого продавца инвалюты при этом остается российский Центробанк, а ⁠российских экспортеров на игнорирование сезонности и реализацию валютной выручки сразу после ее получения стимулирует высокий уровень рублевых ставок.
Параллельно сохраняется на низком уровне спрос отечественных импортеров на инвалюту, что отмечают как участники рынка, так и регуляторы.
В таких сложившихся сейчас условиях пара юань/рубль расчетами «завтра» к 11.30 МСК ⁠котировалась на Мосбирже по 10,96, и российская валюта набирает четверть процента.
Беспоставочные однодневные фьючерсные контракты на пары юань/рубль, ⁠доллар/рубль, евро/рубль к этому времени котировались на Мосбирже по 10,97, 76,44 и 90,38 соответственно, и рубль набирает по 0,3% против всех ⁠трех валют.
Пара доллар/рубль к 11.30 МСК котировалась на форексе по 76,25, согласно данным LSEG, и рубль дорожает на две трети процента.
Пара ‌евро/рубль котируется на форексе по 89,87, и здесь рубль набирает 0,2%.

Yesterday, Soloviev came out with some fantastic nonsense about the ‘Russophobia’ of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence (!) and Starlink - it’s worth listening to the whole thing (English subtitles) video.echelon.pl/w/u6awSQ7YG1A… - but it is also a good excuse to remind on what legal basis Starlink actually works in the Russian army. Well, as is often the case… on none. Starlink has no legal basis in the Russian army and operates illegally, as Russian military analysts have been quick to point out.
Both #Starlink and #OneWeb attempted to legally enter the Russian market in 2017-2018 but were blocked by the FSB and #Roscosmos, which announced the construction of its own Skif system. Dmitry #Rogozin, as head of Roscosmos, spoke at length at the time about Starlink being a Pentagon agency and made many grandiose announcements about the launch of a Russian system that would be a hundred times better. Это следует из поступившего в Замоскворецкий суд Москвы иска, сообщил «Ведомости» осведомленный источник. По его словам, Борисов управлял подведомственным Минтрансу РФ учреждением с 2016 по 2019 год и официально в этот период не мог заниматься бизнесом. Но, как следует из иска прокуратуры, он нарушал этот запрет, а служебное положение использовал для незаконного обогащения, в том числе через подконтрольных лиц.
В частности, в 2016 году ФКУ «Уралуправтодор» получило из федерального бюджета 1,5 млрд руб. на ремонт федеральной трассы М-5 «Урал» и других дорог межрегионального значения. По версии надзорного органа, Борисов организовал нелегальную схему закупок услуг для госнужд по строительству и обслуживанию дорог. Для этого он привлек ООО «С-ДСУ 111» и через госзакупки обеспечил обществу за три года 12 контрактов на общую сумму 1,5 млрд руб. Средства уходили фиктивных субподрядчикам для вывода в «теневой оборот», а работы по капитальному ремонту трасс так и не были выполнены, отметили в Генпрокуратуре. При этом за время нахождения в должности Борисов оформил на себя и своих родственников 19 земельных участков, 15 жилых домов, 26 квартир, 12 машино-мест и 40 нежилых помещений. Вся эта недвижимость расположена в Москве, Санкт-Петербурге, Крыму, Краснодарском и Ставропольском краях и других регионах ...

Российские банки в январе выдали 430 млрд руб. ипотечных кредитов, подсчитал ВТБ. Это рекорд для первого месяца года, когда активность обычно падает. В январе 2025 г. было выдано в 3,4 раза меньше ипотеки, а в 2024 г. – в 1,5 раза, хотя тогда еще действовала безадресная льготная ипотека, а ставки по рыночной были ниже.
Январский ажиотаж связан вызван стремлением «запрыгнуть в последний вагон»: с 1 февраля ужесточились правила выдачи самой популярной сейчас льготной программы, «семейной ипотеки». На фоне этого ажиотажа в декабре россияне взяли ипотеки на 811 млрд руб. – третий результат в истории.
По «семейной ипотеке» выдается большая часть кредитов на покупку жилья. ЦБ еще не подвел итога января, а в прошлом году 82% ипотеки было выдано по льготным программам. В ноябре (это последние такие данные) 91% льготной ипотеки составила «семейная»: 358 из 392 млрд руб.
С 1 февраля запрещено оформлять две льготные ипотеки на одну семью: супруги должны быть созаемщиками по кредиту. Это делается, чтобы снизить инвестиционный спрос в льготных программах, объяснила замдиректора департамента банковского регулирования и аналитики ЦБ Анна Горелова. До февраля муж и жена могли каждый оформить «семейную ипотеку», что при ставке 6% годовых очень выгодно. Кроме того, Минфин уменьшил размер компенсации для банков за выдачу такой ипотеки с 2,5 до 2 процентных пунктов сверх ключевой ставки. Это сделало программу менее выгодной для банков, и они ужесточат условия выдач.

Quello che sta emergendo, fin qui, dagli “Epstein files” non è (solo) un episodio morboso di cronaca nera. È il ritratto - ancora incompleto - di un modo di governare il mondo: una classe transnazionale di potere che intreccia denaro, influenza, “relazioni”, consulenze e propaganda politica.
Per chi non ha letto i file, la cosa più difficile da visualizzare è la trama. Una rete di milionari e principi, politici e ex capi di governo, CEO tech e finanziatori, mediatori e faccendieri, consulenti che entrano ed escono da palazzi e aziende, figure che orbitano tra intelligence corrotta e diplomazia, agitatori della destra nera, registi, attori, ex-fidanzate, figlie di agenti segreti, che fanno da ponte tra ambienti, presentazioni, matrimoni, tutto usato per legittimare frequentazioni, favori, coperture.
E in questa rete ped0fila e ped0terrorista, come potevano mancare, ovviamente, i nodi del circuito izr4elo-americano: ex presidenti izra€liani che visitano Epstein, un ex agente del m0ssad, e che parlano di investimenti in tecnologie di sorveglianza e di imprese come Palantir, facendo i nomi della Silicon Valley come Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Altman.
Vorrei dire che mi colpisce il tono di queste email: l’autosoddisfazione, la calma con cui si muovono, come se nulla potesse toccarli. Ma non è così. Email di aggiornamenti tra pari - “come va?”, “a che punto siamo?”, “quale mossa conviene?”. In mezzo gli abusi: il traffico di minori, la predazione seriale, foto in cui uomini adulti, viscidi e potenti cingono ragazzine. Questa roba è fatta soprattutto da uomini, bianchi, occidentali, ricchi. Una classe che non va mai in galera. E infatti, la stessa gestione della pubblicazione dei file è stata contestata. Diverse sopravvissute hanno denunciato un rilascio “incompleto” e traumatico, perché ha esposto i nomi delle vittime mentre continua a proteggere l'identità di abusanti e facilitatori.
Il secondo livello è il denaro. Nelle carte torna ossessivamente la logica del pagare meno tasse possibile e del trasformare ogni piega normativa in rendita: residenze “strategiche”, giurisdizioni compiacenti, consulenze che in pochi mesi costruiscono fortune, strumenti fiscali che diventano strumenti di controllo. Non è solo avidità, è architettura politica. I file, infatti, sono una cronaca della destra contemporanea.
Per anni lo scandalo è stato usato come arma di parte: destra contro sinistra, liberal contro conservatori. Ma ciò che affiora è una genealogia. Una filiera di potere che attraversa oligarchie “moderate” e oligarchie reazionarie, con una convergenza di interessi materiali e una stessa cultura dell’impunità, dentro cui la destra autoritaria viene costruita come prodotto. La narrativa del “popolo” contro “le élite” viene prodotta e finanziata da quelle stesse élite.
Alcune email parlano ad esempio dei contatti e delle strategie tra Steve Bannon e un circuito di relazioni orientato a rafforzare l’ondata sovranista in Europa, con riferimenti a Matteo Salvini e a Marine Le Pen. Le conversazioni mostrano come la destra che si presenta “anti-sistema” nasca in realtà dentro un laboratorio elitario, iper-finanziato, internazionale, violento e illegale, basato su propaganda e reclutamento.
Su un punto quindi i complottisti avevano ragione. Sì, esistono élite che trafficano influenza, protezioni e corruzione morale; sì, esistono reti di abusi e sfruttamento. L’errore è stato trasformare tutto in esoterismo, in demonologia. Le carte mostrano un orrore molto più “normale”: ricatto, sesso come potere, denaro, impunità, istituzioni piegate. Fascismo, destra, capitalismo ultraliberale, servizi segreti, affarismo e zone grigie.
Proprio gli elettori che in questi anni hanno urlato contro “i poteri forti” hanno consegnato il governo - nei loro Paesi - a pezzi di quell’ecosistema o a politici che ne fanno parte, mentre le destre li convincevano che il nemico fosse altrove: i migranti, i poveri, “la sinistra”, i diritti civili.
I file sono una mappa del potere. Una mappa lordata che mostra le linee di creazione delle destre contemporanee, dei liberali compiacenti, e del tipo di mondo economico che le ha generate.

МОСКВА, 5 фев (Рейтер) - Один из крупнейших в РФ агрохолдингов Русагро нарастил в 2025 году выручку мясного бизнеса на 71%, сельскохозяйственного бизнеса - на 8%, зафиксировав рекордный экспорт.
Как сообщила компания, в 2025 году консолидированная выручка Русагро до межсегментных элиминаций выросла на 16% ⁠до 423,79 миллиарда рублей, в четвертом квартале - на 11% до 156,75 миллиарда рублей.
При этом мясной бизнес, на которого в структуре выручки холдинга приходится 22% за год (16% в 4 квартале) увеличил выручку на 71% до 93,5 миллиарда ⁠рублей в результате роста загрузки мощностей в условиях расширения спроса на внутреннем и экспортном рынке.
На счет ⁠роста эффективности посевной кампании и инициатив по расширению экспорта Русагро отнесло повышение выручки сельскохозяйственного бизнеса на 8% до 55 миллиардов рублей, что составило 13% ⁠от общей выручки за год (24% в 4 квартале).
«С развитием собственного производства и трейдингового направления бизнес вышел на ‌рекордный объем экспорта в 2025 году», - говорится в сообщении компании.
В четвертом квартале продажи зерновых культур выросли ‍в 2,3 раза до 977.000 тонн, за год - на 47% до 1,5 миллиона ‌тонн.
Объем продаж пшеницы вырос в четвертом квартале в 2,2 раза до 828.000 тонн. Рекордный объем продаж был достигнут в результате смещения активной фазы реализации на четвертый квартал и увеличения объемов продаж на экспорт в трейдинговом канале. За весь 2025 год продажи выросли на 44% до 1,15 ⁠миллиона тонн.

Ich habe mal eine Frage zu der konfigurierbaren Timeline in der DEV. Sehe ich das richtig, dass dies nur mit den System-Kanälen wie z.B. "Neu - Empfangen" funktioniert und nicht mit selbst erstellten Kanälen?
Wenn ja, ist es geplant, dass man, wenn man diese Funktion nutzt, dann in dieser selbst zusammengestellten Timeline noch filtern kann so wie bei den selbst erstellten Kanälen?

Zum Beispiel bestimmte Wörter oder Hashtags. U.u. auch bestimmte Accounts. Eigentlich so, wie es bei den selbsterstellten Kanälen auch ist.
Ich meine, ich bin kein Entwickler, wenn es möglich ist diese neue Funktion so umzubauen, dass diese auch bei den selbsterstellten Kanälen greift, dann wäre das mit der Filterung doch gelöst, oder?

Ich bin im Moment augenscheinlich schwer von Begriff. Ich verstehe im Moment nicht einmal, wo Du diese Filterung möchtest. Möchtest Du in der Timeline unter /networkContent hinzufügen oder entfernen? Wenn ja: Dann nutze die neue Funktionalität erstelle einen Channel mit den Beiträgen, die Du zusätzlich haben möchtest, erstelle einen weiteren Channel mit den Beiträgen, die Du nicht haben möchtest und füge sie entsprechend hinzu.

Genau. Ich möchte unter /network mir zum Beispiel Neu - Empfangen anzeigen lassen. Soweit so gut. Jetzt habe ich unter /settings/display aber noch definiert, dass ich mir dort auch noch Entdecken, Angesagt und Deutsch anzeigen lassen möchte. Jetzt ist es natülich so, das mir dort auch Beiträge angezeigt werden, die ich aber nicht in der Timeline haben möchte. Ist ja auch logisch.

Mir geht es jetzt darum, dass ich eine Möglichkeit habe, mir gewisse Beiträge herausfiltern lassen zu können. Ich hoffe, ich habe mich jetzt verständlich genug ausgedrückt?

Das mit dem "Nicht-haben-wollen-Kanal" werde ich mir ansehen. Danke dir.

В ближайшие четыре года в многоквартирных домах по всей России необходимо заменить 70 тыс. лифтов, у которых истек срок службы, заявил министр строительства и жилищно-коммунального хозяйства РФ Ирек Файзуллин. «Если к 2030-му эти лифты не будут заменены или модернизированы, капремонт не произойдет, эти лифты работать не будут», — сказал глава Минстроя в интервью «России 24». Он также напомнил, что ранее правительство уже продлило срок службы старых подъемных устройств на пять лет — они должны были быть выведены из эксплуатации в феврале 2025 года. Файзуллин подчеркнул, что замена оборудования — это «серьезная работа» для регионов, муниципалитетов и лифтовых организаций.
До этого зампред комитета Госдумы по строительству и ЖКХ Светлана Разворотнева заявила, что в России могут не успеть заменить устаревшие лифты в домах до 2030 года. «В регионах, к сожалению, темпы замены, которые мы сейчас видим, они не позволяют пока надеяться, что эта задача будет выполнена», — сказала депутат. По ее словам, федеральные власти в конце 2025 года списали регионам две трети межбюджетных кредитов, чтобы они направили часть средств на замену лифтов, но этим воспользовались не все субъекты. «Кто-то решил, что у них другие приоритеты», — подчеркнула Разворотнева. В Минстрое ранее оценивали ориентировочную стоимость замены устаревших лифтов в 195 млрд руб., но такой объем средств в программу капремонта не заложен.

Okay, if even Aaron Mate drops his support for #Chomsky then it signals that the “world’s brightest intellectual” became a friend so toxic that even scumbags who built their whole career on systematic denial of #Assad war crimes in #Syria like Mate consider him a liability. Keebin’ with Kristina: the One with the RollerMouse Keyboard

I just love it when y’all send in your projects, so thanks, [Kai]! But were do I even begin with this one? Okay, so, first of all, you need to know that [Kai Ruhl] built an amazing split keyboard with plenty of keys for even someone like me. Be sure to check it out, because the build log is great reading.

Image by [Kai Ruhl] via Land of KainBut that wasn’t enough — a mousing solution was in order that didn’t require taking [Kai]’s hands off of the keyboard. And so, over the course of several months, the RollerMouse Keyboard came into being. That’s the creation you see here.

Essentially, this is an ortholinear split with a built-in roller bar mouse, which basically acts like a cylindrical trackball. There’s an outer pipe that slides left/right and rolls up and down, and this sits on a stationary inner rod. The actual mouse bit is from a Logitech M-BJ69 optical number.

[Kai] found it unpleasant to work the roller bar using thumbs, so mousing is done via the palm rests. You may find it somewhat unpolished with all that exposed wiring in the middle. But I don’t. I just worry about dust is all. And like, wires getting ripped out accidentally.

All Work and No Play Makes Jack a Dull Boy

As I write this, a terrible snowpocalypse is snuggling up to the southern and mid-western states. What a time to watch The Shining and check out the dullboy prototype by [Blind_Heim].

They are [Blind_Heim]’s own creation and were inspired by the design of the 1959 Adler Universal featured in The Shining. (Hence the name of the keyboard.) In case it isn’t obvious, they are meant for Kailh choc v1 switches.

Rev 1 shown here has a nice!nano and supports v1 chocs only. Rev 2 will support v1 and v2, and will have a 40 mm Cirque trackpad in that middle space there. Rev 2 will also be open-source and entirely free of copyright, so watch out for that.

Regarding those thumb keys, [Blind_Heim] says that they wanted something ergonomic and monoblock at first, and so the angles were just for looks. But after using it, he realized they were actually quite useful when it comes to determining which key is which without having to look.

As for the keyboard, that’s a Norbauer Heavy Grail Ghost of Christmas Future edition, which was of course a limited release that’s long sold out. I’m sure there are other transparent bodies out there, but good luck finding a bug-eyed, duck-faced keycap.

Historical Clackers: the Saturn

The Virtual Typewriter Museum calls the 1899 Saturn “one of the most impractical machines ever, built with proverbial precision in Switzerland”.

The operation of this blind writer is pretty interesting, and that’s putting it politely. There are nine U-shaped type bars: four on each side beneath the carriage, and one in the middle that swings up from behind.

Each of these type bars holds eight characters, and these are selected by moving a wire up and down the index card using that giant round selector button the left side. The you would strike one of the nine keys corresponding to the column your character appears in.

Evidently the lower case characters were laid out differently than the upper case, which made it even more difficult to use. But hey, Swiss precision.

There is not a lot of information out there about the Saturn, but the Virtual Typewriter Museum does have more shots of various angles.

Finally, a Keyboard Made of Marble and Ceramic

Apparently there was a Kickstarter near the end of 2025 for this thing. Well, this is the first I’ve heard of it. This here is the Keychron Q16 HE 8K ceramic and marble keyboard, which debuted at CES.

This is a luxury keyboard for sure, right down to the pre-lubed Keychron ultra-fast Lime magnetic switches which features Tunnel Magnetoresistance (TMR) and per-key adjustable actuation.

They say it’s built for gaming, but I don’t know. I think it’s built for whatever you want to use it for. It will be available in April. I sincerely hope that it’s like typing on little coffee cups, and it probably sounds amazingly thocky.

Now Tweak Town doesn’t have a whole lot to say about this keyboard, so I found a review to go with it. [YouallareToxic] has quite a bit to say about the keyboard. I think the biggest takeaway from this review is that this keyboard sounds like no other. [YouallareToxic] likens it to a frog guiro. A what? Check out the video below.

Galus was first in Odessa, then in Berislav on the Dnieper River, where journalists found a photo of him with Ukrainian soldiers. Galos was last seen on 20 April in Hryhorivka in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, where Ukrainian soldiers turned him back at a checkpoint, warning him that it was dangerous to continue his journey. Galos explained to them that he was going to visit his girlfriend in occupied Energodar and turned back, after which he had to find another way across the front line because contact with him was lost there. Further information comes from Ukrainian prisoners of war held in Taganrog, who saw him being beaten by Russians for months and then dying.

A Keyboard for Anything, Without a Keyboard

There are many solutions for remote control keyboards, be they Bluetooth, infrared, or whatever else. Often they leave much to be desired, and come with distinctly underwhelming physical buttons. [konkop] has a solution to these woes we’ve not seen before, turning an ESP32-S3 into a USB HID keyboard with a web interface for typing and some physical keyboard macro buttons. Instead of typing on the thing, you connect to it via WiFi using your phone, tablet, or computer, and type into a web browser. Your typing is then relayed to the USB HID interface.

I, Integrated Circuit

I thought about the essay last week when I wrote a piece about a new Chinese microcontroller with an integrated driver for small motors, because a commenter asked me why I was featuring a non-American part. As a Brit I remarked that it would look a bit silly were I were to only feature parts made in dear old Blighty — yes, we do still make some semiconductors! — and it made more sense to feature cool parts wherever I found them. But it left me musing about the nature of semiconductors, and whether it’s possible for any of them to truly only come from one country. So here follows a much more functional I, Chip than Read’s original, trying to work out just where your integrated circuit really comes from. It almost certainly takes great liberties with the details of the processes involved, but the countries of manufacture and extraction are accurate.

First, There’s The Silicon

An integrated circuit, or silicon chip, is as its name suggests, made of silicon. Silicon is all around us in rocks and minerals, as silicon dioxide, which we know in impure form as sand. The world’s largest producer of silicon metal is China, followed by Russia, then Brazil. So if China and Russia are off the table then somewhere in Brazil, a Korean-made continuous bucket excavator scoops up some sand from a quarry.

That sand is taken to a smelting plant and fed with some carbon, probably petroleum coke as a by-product from a Brazilian oil refinery, into a Taiwanese-made submerged-arc furnace. The smelting plant produces ingots of impure silicon, which are shipped to a wafer plant in Taiwan. There they pass through a German-made zone refining process to produce the ultra-pure silicon which is split into wafers. Taiwan is a global centre for semiconductor foundries so the wafers could be shipped locally, but our chip is going to be made in the USA. They’re packed in a carton made from Canadian wood pulp, and placed in a container on a Korean-made ship bound for an American port. There it’s unloaded by a German-made container handling crane, and placed on a truck for transport to the foundry. The truck is American, made in the great state of Washington.

Then, There’s The Package And Leads

Our integrated circuit is the chip itself, but in most cases it’s not just the bare chip. It’s supplied potted in an epoxy case, and with its contacts brought out to some kind of pins. The epoxy is a petrochemical product, while the lead frame is either stamped or chemically etched from metal sheet and plated.

So, somewhere in the Chilean Atacama desert, an American-made dragline excavator is digging out copper ore from the bottom of a huge pit. The ore is loaded into Japanese-made dump trucks, from where it’s driven to a rail head and loaded into ore carrier cars. The American-made locomotives take it to a refining plant where machinery installed by a Finnish company smelts and refines it into copper ingots. These are shipped to Sweden aboard a German-made ship, unloaded by a German-made crane, and delivered to a specialised metal refiner on a Swedish-made truck.

Meanwhile underground in Ontario, Canada, Swedish-made machinery scoops up nickel ore and loads it onto a Swedish-made mine truck. At the nickel refining plant, which is Canadian-made, the sulphur and iron impurities are removed, and the resulting nickel ingots travel by rail behind a Canadian-made (but American designed) locomotive to a port, where an American made crane loads them into an Italian-made ship bound for Sweden. Another German crane and Swedish truck deliver it to the metal refiner, where a Swedish-made plant is used to create a copper-nickel alloy.

A German-made rolling plant then turns the alloy into a thin sheet, shipped in a roll inside a container on a Japanese-made container ship bound for the USA. Eventually after another round of cranes, trains, and trucks, all American this time, it arrives at the company who makes lead frames. They use a Japanese-made machine to stamp the sheet alloy and create the frames themselves. An American-made truck delivers them to the chip foundry.

At a petrochemical plant in China, bulk epoxy resin, plasticisers, pigments, and other products are manufactured. They are supplied in drums, which are shipped on a Chinese-made container ship to an American port where American cranes and trucks do the job of delivering them to an epoxy formulation company. There they are mixed in carefully-selected proportions to produce American-made epoxy semiconductor moulding compound, which is delivered to the chip foundry on an American-made truck.

Bringing all Those Countries’ Parts Together

The foundry now has the silicon wafers, lead frames, and epoxy it needs to make an integrated circuit. There are many other chemicals used in its process, but for simplicity we’ll take those three as being the parts which make an IC. What they don’t yet have is an integrated circuit to make. For that there’s a team of high-end engineers in a smart air-conditioned office of an American semiconductor company in California. They are integrated circuit designers, but they don’t design everything. Instead they buy in much of the circuit as intellectual property, which can come from a variety of different countries. Banging the drum as a Brit I’m sure you’ll all know that ARM cores come from Cambridge here in the UK, just to name the most obvious example. So British, German, Dutch, American, and Canadian IP is combined using American software and the knowledge of American engineers, and the resulting design is sent to the foundry.

The process machinery of an integrated circuit foundry lies probably at the most bleeding edge of human technology. The machines this foundry uses are mostly from Eindhoven in the Netherlands, but they are joined by American, German, Japanese, and even British ones. Even then, those machines themselves contain high-precision parts from all those countries and more, so that Dutch machine is also in part American and German too.

Whatever magic the semiconductor foundry does is performed, and at the loading bay appear cartons made from Canadian wood pulp containing reels made from Chinese bulk polymer, that have hundreds of packaged American-made integrated circuits in them. Some of them are shipped on an American truck to an airport, from where they cross the Atlantic in the hold of a pan-European-manufactured jet aircraft to be shipped from the British airport in a German-made truck to an electronics distributor in Northamptonshire. I place an order, and the next day a Polish bloke driving an American-badged van that was made in Turkey delivers a few of them to my door.

The above path from a dusty quarry in Brazil to my front door in Oxfordshire is excessively simplified, and were you to really try to find every possible global contribution it’s likely there would be few countries left out and this document would be hundreds of pages long. I hope mining engineers, metallurgists, chemists, and semiconductor process engineers will forgive me for any omissions or errors. What I hope it does illustrate though is how connected the world of manufacturing is, and how many sources come together to produce a single product. Read’s 1958 pencil is alive and well.

Okay so there's a letter from the car loan and a sudden "improvement" in my credit and that means the only reason I have a car to sell to Carmax is the ice and snow.

Right now I need about $4500 (which includes tax/tags/etc.) That's $100 from 40 people, $50 from 80, etc, plus a bit.

If I can't do that I need a full $7500 plus tax, tags, etc AND an uber 30 miles away AND hoping the seller is completely honest to have a viable vehicle that isn't effectively a waste of resources.

Time crunch here, it's starting to thaw. I have a day or so at most.

Oggi al lavoro mi arriva una multa presa col furgone aziendale a novembre, per pochi km/h oltre.
Esco, vado a fare benzina, non leggo bene l'avviso e seleziono la pompa che non funziona: 50 € persi - erano i buoni aziendali, ma comunque girano un po'.
Arrivo a casa, trovo un'altra multa, sempre per poco sopra il limite.

normal scam cycle: humanitarian disaster leads to people wanting to help leads to fraudsters. Some of the accounts seem to be running the old twitter playbook of farming followers by following accounts in hopes they follow back. I’m sure some are legit, but even some of the ones that have been vetted are engaging in spammy/scammy tactics. I generally block/suspend the ones that are trying to farm followers or drop into conversations with pleas for money. Report em.

Molto meglio una sanzione amministrativa mensile pari all'1% del reddito lordo annuo finchè non dimostri di non essere più uno stupido.

Ladybird si avvicina all’alpha, ma per funzionare deve fingersi Chrome

Il progetto Ladybird, il browser open source che punta a costruire un motore di rendering completamente indipendente, ha pubblicato il resoconto di gennaio 2026 e i progressi sono notevoli! Con una versione alpha ormai all’orizzonte, il team ha deciso di cambiare approccio: basta concentrarsi solo sui test tecnici, ora la priorità è far funzionare i siti che la gente usa davvero.

Il trucco dello User-Agent

La parte più interessante (e un po’ amara) riguarda lo User-Agent, quella stringa che il browser invia ai siti per identificarsi. Con la sua identità originale, Ladybird riceveva interfacce degradate, pagine di errore “browser non supportato“, o direttamente il blocco da parte di molti siti.

La soluzione è stata aggiungere “Chrome” e “Safari” alla stringa identificativa. Il nome Ladybird c’è ancora, non stanno cercando di nascondersi, ma se vogliono che Google, Gmail e Instagram servano contenuti normali devono stare al gioco. E questo sembra aver funzioanto: dopo la modifica, tutti questi siti hanno iniziato a caricarsi correttamente.

È un promemoria poco piacevole di quanto potere abbiano i browser dominanti sul web di oggi.

Gmail, YouTube e compagnia

Con lo User-Agent sistemato, il team si è concentrato sulle prestazioni. Gmail ora carica più velocemente grazie a diverse ottimizzazioni, e l’interfaccia è finalmente utilizzabile. YouTube funziona e va anche a schermo intero, anche se per ora solo a 360p perché manca ancora il supporto ad alcune tecnologie di streaming.

La lista dei siti che ora funzionano si allunga: Instagram, Slack, Photopea, TripAdvisor, Google Street View, diagrams.net. Non siamo ancora al livello di un browser maturo, ma i passi avanti sono concreti.

I numeri

Solo a gennaio sono state integrate 324 modifiche da 40 contributori diversi. I test superati sui Web Platform Tests, lo standard di riferimento per misurare la compatibilità dei browser, sono arrivati a quasi 2 milioni. Per un progetto che sta costruendo tutto da zero, senza appoggiarsi a Chromium o WebKit, sono numeri importanti!
