Many find that Mastodon requires a steep learning curve and coming over from the Dead Bird Site some years ago it took me a long time to find my way on Mastodon - not because of the tech involved but because tech and discursive practices go hand in hand. What’s the story behind the “energy infrastructure attacks ceasefire” unilaterally announced today by Trump and not confirmed by either #Ukraine or #Russia ?
1) Russia's intense attacks on Ukraine in recent weeks have depleted its ammunition supplies, which are produced on an ongoing basis anyway.
2) A wave of record cold weather is currently sweeping across Russia, providing an ideal opportunity for counterattacks.
3) It seems logical that it was not Trump who asked Putin, but Putin who asked Trump, and the latter is presenting this as a result of his genius, as was the case with the "peace plan"
4) Russia has not confirmed any pause, so it is free to keep it or not, as soon as it decides that continuing the attacks will cause more damage to Ukraine than to themselves.
