I spent today mentoring a group of our junior engineers, something I love doing, but it was strange. I was a decade older (2 decades in one case) than anyone in the group. I had a weird feeling of displacement, inhabiting a role that, in my mind, has always belonged to other people.
Technical leadership isn't new to me. I'm used to sharing knowledge. But the pronounced age gap added a different energy, that gives me pause.
I didn't mind it. It's not bitter or sad that I feel. It's more jarring and a sense of being unprepared. I don't know what filling this role means to me.

However, after surfacing the original website, I'm very doubtful this infographic was created in that wholesome context. Hard science-fiction still is science-fiction, and I'm weary of anyone who's trying to exploit its cool factor to sell investments opportunities that do not exist in real life, for exacting reasons I now know you know about.

French President Macron reported that a Russian shadow fleet tanker under false flag was boarded and detained.
This is the first time a European country took such an assertive role. Germany recently barred a Russian ship entry to the Baltic Sea. There is definitely a change in how the Russian shadow fleet is treated. More countries might follow and this is well overdue.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has thanked Macron for this step.

The USA were the only country that invoked NATO article 5 after 9/11. Every NATO nation came to help in Afghanistan. 1,144 NATO soldiers, among them 60 Germans, died during this war.
Trump questioning if we would help despite easily proving that we did and then even belittling it (They stayed a little back, little off the frontlines) is the most shameless and disgusting statement in that reference that deranged and dishonorable draft-dodger could utter.

I've never used Claude or GH CoPilot or LightLLM or whatever, and don't have any interest in them. I don't see any future in the industry at all, for anyone really. I try to keep my mouth shut at work to not spread my cynicism too much.
Everything that kept me inspired and interested in tech is long gone now.
