There were lots of folks in MS when I was there who were willing to tell management that this was a mistake. They were the ones given lower bonuses and told that they needed to get behind the corporate priorities. Some of them found niches where they could work on something they found interesting without management noticing, a lot more left. The people who were promoted were the ones who either had terrible judgement or were willing to lie to management.
The board needs to hold Satya Nadella and Kevin Scott accountable for creating that environment. If not, shareholders might start asking why 20% of the company’s value was wiped out in six months.

@pfefferle@mastodon.social Mastodon doesn't support soft deletes, so that's why both soft and hard deletes federate out a Delete.

in reply to julian • • •in the WordPress space, visibility and post-states might change quite often in the publish process. so I thought a soft-delete might be nice to map a "from published back to draft" use case. but mastodon does not respect the update when the post will be republished.
how do you handle that atm. or do you simply live with it!?

in reply to Matthias Pfefferle • • •FWIW, the way I handle this in @encyclia is to edit the post content to something to the effect of “This content is no longer available” instead of actually deleting the object. Mastodon (and other) servers may let people see what used to be there if they dig into the version history, but for the type of content Encyclia touches, this is generally not much of a problem.
But if you want to push for better `Undo(Delete)` support in the ecosystem, you have my axe! 🪓

Perhaps that will trigger the tombstone to be... exhumed :skull:
