In recent reports, Universitร #LaSapienza di Roma disclosed a significant cyberattack on its IT systems, which disrupted multiple digital services and blocked access to key platforms for students, faculty and staff.
Authorities, including the universityโs IT security teams and national cybersecurity agencies, are actively investigating and working to restore systems while assessing the full impact.
In 2011 a major coordinated attack hit 18 Italian universities, including Sapienza, where hackers stole personal data such as passwords and email addresses from academic databases.
This was attributed to a group claiming affiliation with #Anonymous.
Although not Sapienza, Universitร #RomaTre suffered a significant ransomware/IT disruption in May 2025, with systems and web services taken offline and requiring intervention from the Italian Agenzia per la Cybersicurezza Nazionale and police to restore operations.

A Minneapolis story:
Today, I took my kid to the neighborhood park to go ice skating. Aggiungo che anche noi avevamo fatto praticamente tutto il possibile lato ottimizzazione: Super Cache, Apache e database configurati con grande attenzione con prestazioni migliorate in modo sensibile, Varnish in mezzo con benefici reali.
Il problema รจ che quando arrivavano decine di migliaia di persone tutte insieme, il sistema prima o poi collassava e avevamo 4 server dedicati, 2 per servire le pagine e 2 per i database (che erano quelli che si piegavano ๐ )

Per questo le uniche che conosco sono cloudflare e l'europea edgelin che permettono di caricare l'intera pagina in cache sul loro cloud e quindi non pesando sul server.
Con cloudflare funzionava egregiamente, edgelin dice di fare lo stesso ma serve testare il tutto.
