Aggiungo che anche noi avevamo fatto praticamente tutto il possibile lato ottimizzazione: Super Cache, Apache e database configurati con grande attenzione con prestazioni migliorate in modo sensibile, Varnish in mezzo con benefici reali.
Il problema è che quando arrivavano decine di migliaia di persone tutte insieme, il sistema prima o poi collassava e avevamo 4 server dedicati, 2 per servire le pagine e 2 per i database (che erano quelli che si piegavano 😅 )
grazie!!! io uso già BunnyCDN (lo pago) ma il Mastodon Hug of Death mi manda giù il sito ogni volta... boh magari devo cambiare qualcosa nella configurazione
Per questo le uniche che conosco sono cloudflare e l'europea edgelin che permettono di caricare l'intera pagina in cache sul loro cloud e quindi non pesando sul server.
Con cloudflare funzionava egregiamente, edgelin dice di fare lo stesso ma serve testare il tutto.

My kid hadn’t been skating since last winter, and wobbled on the ice like jello for 10 seconds — and then it all came back, and she was zooming off faster than I could keep up.

in reply to Paul Cantrell • • •There were all kinds of skaters on the ice. Little kids were learning to skate using walkers. Hockey players drilling. Parents chatting.
One ~6yo with a full hockey helmet was by •far• the fastest skater on the ice, and also one of the best in control. Amazing speed and technique.
A late teenage figure skater was doing some eye-popping spins, and drew a small crowd. She picked up some of the littlest kids one at a time and spun with them in her arms, to shrieks and giggles.
It was •so• Minneapolis. Except…

There’s officially a city prohibition on ICE setting foot in city parks, but who knows what that’s worth? Those bastards will do anything if they think they can get away with it. And they’ll grab people right off the streets if they’re falling behind quota for the day. Who’d risk that?
ICE had apparently succeeded turning the park into all-white world they dreamed of. It was…creepy.

in reply to Paul Cantrell • • •Then, as I was noticing this and starting to despair, two Latinas showed up. They looked tense, anxious, especially the one in the white coat. Was it fear of ICE? Or…no, it’s probably fear of ice, lower case. Despite being an adult, this is very likely her first time skating, ever. She is so wobbly on the skates.
And then: BAM! she falls. Flat on her back. Hard.
And she starts laughing hysterically.

in reply to Paul Cantrell • • •A small crowd swooshes up to her. I was worried she might have hit her head, but no: she’s fine, and she’s laughing. And she looks up at these concerned strangers staring down at her, and just grins herself silly. Her friend is laughing now too. I say, “Count body parts!” and she cracks up again. She’s really, really bad at ice skating, and all these strangers just want to make sure she’s OK, and they love it that she’s here.

And one of these days, damnit, everyone can go skating and just worry about the ice and not ICE. One day. When we get those occupier assholes out of here.
