Through environmental lobbying Hinkley Point C was obliged to install an extremely complex โfish protectionโ system which costs no more no less than 700โ000โ000 GBP and itโs estimated benefit for the environment is equivalent to less than 1 (one) salmon per year and a few more of smaller fish. No need to mention that countries like China - which manufacture 80% of Europeโs PV panels and wind turbines thanks to cheap energy - donโt care about such fancy toys.
Make no mistake, such systems are also often demanded for off-shore wind turbines, also boosting their cost, but to much lesser scale.
