An important PSA for people who are active on #Bluesky and who, upon hearing that the ICE account was officially verified, are saying: "I will just block it."
Blocking on Bluesky is NOT PRIVATE: it's very easy to see who is blocking any account by visiting sites that list that information.
I took a screenshot from clearsky.app, listing all the accounts that are blocking ICE (I pixelated avatars and usernames for privacy purposes).
The safest bet is to mute (that info is private) 😫
I'm well aware that posting this info on the Fediverse seems like a pointless exercise, but it's to raise awareness and spread the word to people active in BOTH places.
I was never really active on #Bluesky and entirely stopped using it months ago but there's no point in posting this info there because I have zero reach. Or rather: 1100+ followers and 1-2 likes (at best!) and zero comments for any post. It's like I'm shadow-banned.

During the McCarthy era, my dad — a University of Michigan professor — was asked by the FBI to name communists or other subversives at the University. He refused. He told us they came several times to his office to pressure him, even threatening him with being called before the Committee (a career-ending event everyone feared). He refused every time. The University administration backed him up. A decade later I overheard some faculty (partygoers at our house) talking about the events with respect.
I never thought those days would come again.

Y se hicieron llamar The cramberry saw us, un juego de palabras para una joven banda de punk-rock sin muchas pretensiones.

Se llamaba Dolores Mary Eileen O'Riordan.
Y cantaba de fábula.

Con diez lo mismo cantaba en la iglesia que en pubs con sus tíos. Todo muy irlandés.
Pronto aprendió a tocar la guitarra y recibió clases de piano.

Y no renunciaba a su herencia irlandesa, a ese sonido llamado yodel (también flip) tan característico cuando la voz pasa de surgir del pecho a lo que se llama voz de cabeza.

Aquella chica joven se implicó en las canciones junto con Hogan, aportando madurez. Y Hogan no rechazó aquel aporte sino que le ayudó a crecer.
Y así nacieron los ahora renombrados The Cranberries.

Y en 1992 firmaron con Island Records. La discográfica que había lanzado a la fama a otros irlandeses: U2.
Un año más tarde salía su primer disco.

Se dieron cuenta que la gente iba a los conciertos a verles a ellos, no al grupo principal. Y el disco comenzó a venderse.

Grabado de nuevo con la producción de Stephen Street, habitual de Blur o The Smiths, el disco reflejó una mayor madurez.

Aquello afectó profundamente a Dolores, que compuso un tema crudo y directo contra el terrorismo y el absurdo de las guerras.
