According to well informed channel Dosye Sphiona, Colonel Erik Selimov, commander of Russiaโs 136th Motorized Rifle Brigade, was killed in a traffic accident on January 4 near Alchevsk, occupied Luhansk region.
The crash involved Selimovโs vehicle and a UAZ carrying soldiers from the 88th Brigade. Selimov and three of his guards died on the spot; two others are in critical condition.
Zelensky met with Colonel Yevhen Khmara, head of the SBUโs โAlphaโ Special Operations Center. โWeโll scale the experience of our special forces and Alpha,โ Zelensky said, noting they also discussed future special operations and broader development plans for Ukraineโs Security Service.
Khmara was rumored to replace Malyuk as head of the SBU. No official confirmation, yet.

It is obvious that ever since of the fall of Assad and Russia's failed war in Ukraine that despots around the globe better have a plan B, when the heat at home is too high. Apparently, this is also the case with the mullahs in Iran.
"The Times" has obtained intelligence reports that Khamenei and his inner circle of around 20 aides have hammered out a plan to leave Tehran, if the ongoing protests cannot get under control and even escalate to the point that security forces start to defect.
Following the fall of Maduro, many Russian war bloggers are starting to realize in what bad shape Russia is. The events in Venezuela are unanimously considered a strategic Russian defeat, and they admit that Russia is currently too weak to help any Russian allies.
Not only the "investments" are gone, the very future of Russia is at stake. Russian allies such as Syria, Iran and Venezuela are getting lost or neutralized, without Moscow having even a chance to counter it.

The primary target in Yelets, Russia, seems to be the "Energiya" factory. Fires in those workshops and across the city can be seen. The city is around 300 km (180 miles) from the Ukrainian border.
The factory is involved in the development and production of autonomous power sources for general industrial purposes, but also in special equipment, such as for aviation, for radio equipment and electrical devices.
