La vulnerabilità si trova nell’applicazione Contact Center Express (CCX) Editor di Cisco Unified CCX la quale potrebbe consentire a un aggressore remoto non autenticato di aggirare l’autenticazione e ottenere autorizzazioni amministrative relative alla creazione e all’esecuzione di script.
Questa vulnerabilità è dovuta a meccanismi di autenticazione non corretti nella comunicazione tra CCX Editor e un server Unified CCX interessato.

Le organizzazioni non sono contenitori astratti, ma reti di persone. Ognuno di noi, inconsapevolmente, può diventare il vettore di un attacco informatico.
Il malware fa il suo lavoro senza badare al conto in banca: usa le stesse tecniche per paralizzare i server di una multinazionale o i dispositivi domestici di una persona comune, con effetti ovviamente molto diversi. Un click sbagliato su un link o un allegato da una fonte apparentemente affidabile può innescare una catena di infezioni che si espande dall’ambito personale a quello professionale, aggirando firewall e controlli perché il vero varco è nelle nostre mani.
La catena dell’infezione è semplice ma spietata:
Parte spesso da un momento di distrazione o da un errore nelle nostre case, ad esempio un messaggio di phishing su WhatsApp o una email ingannevole;
L’infezione si propaga lateralmente attraverso connessioni, dispositivi condivisi o servizi cloud;
Finisce nelle reti aziendali, magari tramite un dipendente inconsapevole che trasporta la minaccia attraverso uno smartphone o credenziali violate chissà dove.
Nonostante le aziende spendano milioni in tecnologie di difesa, il vero difetto è il fattore umano. I criminali lo sanno bene e usano l’inganno: social engineering, messaggi di urgenza, false autorità, pressione da parte dei familiari e paura sono armi che funzionano su tutti, dal dirigente al parente che non sa distinguere un link sospetto.
Quindi, la cybersecurity è una questione che riguarda tutti. Le imprese più visionarie lo hanno capito e stanno investendo in programmi di security awareness che coinvolgono non solo i dipendenti ma anche le loro famiglie.
Però, l’Italia fatica ancora. Siamo agli ultimi posti tra i Paesi UE per competenze digitali di base: solo il 45% degli italiani le possiede secondo l’indice DESI Digital Skills Report 2025 della Commissione Europea. Si tratta di un gap che rallenta la diffusione di una cultura della sicurezza che dovrebbe essere civile, come l’educazione stradale o sessuale. Per questo motivo sarebbe ora di introdurre la cybersicurezza come materia scolastica.
Le strategie di difesa devono spostarsi da silos tecnologici isolati a una visione integrata della sicurezza, che consideri come il comportamento umano dentro e fuori dall’ufficio influisca direttamente sulla protezione aziendale. Il principio “zero trust” vale anche e soprattutto per le persone: fidarsi mai, verificare sempre.

In this project, LEDs are abused as temperature sensors. When the temperature gets hot enough for long enough, the microcontroller will turn on its LEDs. How? A diode’s forward voltage is temperature-related. By monitoring the forward voltage, the microcontroller can infer the temperature and respond appropriately.
This particular project is really two projects in one, centered around a common theme, heat activation. The first version has four LEDs and, in response to heat, four LEDs flicker to simulate a real candle. The second version is also heat-activated, but it has only one LED. You can snuff out this LED by pinching the top of it with your fingers. You can see a demo of each version in the videos below.
You will find the schematics, Gerber files, and software in the project’s downloadable files. The candles use some of the features of the PIC12F1501 microcontroller, particularly the onboard ADC.

He starts with an investigation of the block diagram of the transmitter. In the transmitter, the indium gallium arsenide phosphide laser diode emits light with a 1310-nanometer wavelength. Thermal characteristics in the transmitter are important, so there is thermal control circuitry. He notes that this system only works using amplitude modulation; phase modulation would require more expensive parts. Then it’s time to look at the receiver’s block diagram. Some optics direct the light signal to a PIN diode, which receives the signal and interfaces with biasing and amplifying circuitry.
Having explained the operation of the transmitter and receiver, he takes both units apart and has a close look at the internals, with particular attention to the business ends of the transmitter and receiver, which have been carefully mechanically calibrated. He uses an optical spectrum analyzer to verify the laser wavelength and power, then runs the signal through a vector network analyzer. He also uses an arbitrary waveform generator and a vector signal generator to show that radio over fiber would also be feasible. Finally, he captures an eye diagram on an oscilloscope and measures voltage with a digital multimeter.

Autopsy of a First-Generation RX7 Mazda Rotary Car Engine

(Credit: Baked Beans Garage, YouTube) In theory, Wankel-style rotary internal combustion engines have many advantages: they ditch the cumbersome crankcase and piston design, replacing it with a simple, single-chamber design and a thick, plectrum-shaped chunk of metal that spins around inside that chamber to create virtual combustion chambers. This saves weight and maximizes performance-to-weight. Unfortunately, these types of engines are also known for burning a lot of oil and endless seal troubles, especially with early rotary Mazda engines that easily died.
Yet even 1980 versions were not without issues, a case in point is the Mazda 1st gen RX7 with a 12A rotary engine that the [Baked Beans Garage] over at YouTube got their paws on. Starting with unsuccessful attempts to make the car start, the next step was to roll the car into the morgue garage for a full teardown of the clearly deceased engine.
About 35 minutes into the video, we get to the teardown of the engine, with its parts contrasted with those of a newer revision rotary engines alongside illustrations of their functioning, making it as much an autopsy as a detailed introduction to these rotary engines. Technically, they also aren’t the original DKM-style Wankel engines, but a KKM-style engine, as designed by [Hanns-Dieter Paschke]. [Wankel] didn’t like the eccentric KKM design, as he thought it’d put too much stress on the apex seals, but ultimately the more economical KKM design was further developed.
During the autopsy of the 12A revision Mazda engine, it becomes clear that it was likely overheating that killed the engine over the course of years of abuse, along with ‘chatter’ marks of the apex seals destroying the inner chrome coating. This would have compromised compression and with it any chance of the engine running, not unlike a piston engine with badly scored cylinder walls after ingesting some metal chunks.
While the Mazda 12B and subsequent designs addressed many of the issues with the early rotary engines, its use was limited to some sports models, ending in 2012 with the RX-8. The currently produced Mazda MX-30 does use a rotary engine again in its plug-in hybrid version, but it’s only as a range extender engine that drives a generator. Looking at the internals of those Mazda rotary engines, it’s easy to see how complex they are to keep running, but you cannot help but feel a little bit of sadness that these small-but-powerful engines didn’t make much more of a splash.

In 4.5, I think it's become more difficult to use when changing the display range settings in the modal screen. For users who frequently change ranges, even if they want to quickly change the range when posting, a modal screen opens every time, and it takes two steps to select and save. (I don't think quote ranges are changed that often.)

E ciò non solo per tutta la questione di preziosità indotta che si verifica col salvare, per poi ordinare in collezioni, sapendo che i dati sono sempre comunque sotto il mio controllo… ma quanto più per le inaspettate sorprese che le immagini messe lì da parte possono riserbare, almeno a me che ho l’anima grossa e la voglia di fare cose. 😤
A parte quando ritorno lì apposta con in mente l’idea di ritrovare una specifica immagine necessaria per scrivere l’ennesimo post pseudo-giornaliero dei miei, oppure per qualsiasi altra situazione specifica… in questi ultimissimi giorni, avere il Pignio a mio servizio, con centinaia di fotine e disegnini salvati, mi sta essendo utile banalmente per trovare cose simpatiche da disegnare al volo in ogni momento, essendomi come ho detto inspiegabilmente fissata con tale attività nel mentre che per qualche motivo non ho voglia di fare granché altro. Beh, in realtà, questa benedetta domenica però almeno un po’ di programming l’ho fatto… esattamente sul Pignio, per adeguarlo alle mie nuovissime esigenze spuntate fuori appunto ultimamente. 👌
A parte iniziare un potenziamento cosmico della ricerca, aggiungendo per ora la possibilità di accendere e spegnere il case-sensitive, filtrare i risultati cercando in specifici campi di metadati (titolo, descrizione, link, ecc…) e non per forza tutti, nonché filtrare per utente creatore (…che sulla mia istanza è inutile, ma ad altra gente sarà comodo)… Ho anche sistemato la generazione dei siti statici, che si era rotta in modo inspiegabilmente assurdo (e giuro che manco io ho capito esattamente cosa è successo)… E infine, cosa veramente figa in questo così toccante contesto di immaginette, ho aggiunto una lightbox decente che permette di visualizzare le immagini a qualsiasi livello di zoom, incluso su desktop, che è per l’appunto estremamente comodo per guardare i riferimenti mentre disegno (altrimenti, dovevo ogni volta aprire le immagini in una scheda a parte, e modificare lo zoom del browser lì, che fa schifo). 😁
Vabbé, niente di particolare da vedere a ‘sto giro, in realtà… niente screenshot, ironicamente, insomma. Per provare la lightbox, basta aprire la pagina di qualsiasi immagine e cliccarci sopra, e si può zoomare con la rotella del mouse (…dovrei forkare la libreria per supportare anche la tastiera). La ricerca, invece, funziona come sempre di base, ma la pagina dei risultati ha anche tastini e controlli per le nuove opzioni, che temo col tempo diventeranno molto più incasinate. Ancora un’altra volta, però, sono riuscita ad ingannare chiunque nello scoprire altri casi d’uso del Pignio facendo finta che io avessi qualcosa di più interessante da dire, che non è poco… e oggi ho quindi forse marcito un po’ meno di ultimamente, però conseguentemente ho disegnato di meno, e quindi rip. Along with glorious greyscale, the pictures achieved from such a camera are more than recognizable. Putting together the camera didn’t even require anything crazy beyond the sensor itself. What appears to be a Teensy LC board, basic buttons, and a small screen are essentially everything required to replicate the camera’s functionality. Pictures, both standard and “panoramic”, can be viewed in a variety of color palettes stored on board. Along with a surprisingly impressive feature set, the idea is impressive.
Limitations are often the mother of innovation, no matter if self-imposed or not, as seen here. However, [Dycus] still had a whole 30×30 array to photograph. What about a single pixel? Let’s make it even harder; we can’t look directly at the subject! This is exactly what was done here in this impressive demonstration of clever engineering.

Ma questo cambia davvero qualcosa?
In questo post faremo un riepilogo della questione "Threads vs. Fediverso libero", traendo spunto da alcune recenti occasioni di confronto sull'argomento. Cos’è successo finora: la finta federazione di Threads
Ormai è chiaro che abbiamo sopravvalutato il temuto rischio principale della federazione con Threads: lo tsunami che avrebbe invaso le timeline delle nostre istanze libere, con gravi ripercussioni sul carico di lavoro del server, non c’è stato e non c’è stato perché Threads ha deciso deliberatamente di non federarsi mai per davvero.
Al di là delle scelte di carattere ideologico o finalizzate alla protezione dei propri utenti (qui per esempio un post di @gubi e qui la presa di posizione di @kenobit ), tutte legittime (sia chiaro), la motivazione più rilevante tecnicamente tra quelle alla base della defederazione di Threads era proprio quella di evitare l’invasione dei suoi post, sia dal punto di vista qualitativo (a causa della tolleranza di Meta verso i contenuti suprematisti e monnezzari), sia da quello quantitativo (a causa dell’enormità di differenze di scala tra loro e noi).
Alcune istanze hanno praticato un silenziamento preventivo (qui l’annuncio di @devol in occasione della prima parziale federazione di Threads) che consentiva agli utenti di seguire liberamente i contenuti di Threads, mentre altre istanze (tra le istanze più grandi di Mastodon e Pixelfed, gestite da @Gargron e @dansup ossia gli sviluppatori stessi di quei due software) hanno tenuto un atteggiamento entusiasta.
A proposito, c’è qualcosa di molto singolare: mi sembra che la federazione tra pixelfed.social e threads.net non funzioni affatto: da Threads non si vede Pixelfed e viceversa, ma come se non bastasse, da Pixelfed, le menzioni a Threads sono abbastanza diverse da come si vedono da Mastodon…
Le nostre scelte sono state orientate fin dall’inizio da aspetti tecnici: volevamo evitare di pagare banda e risorse per uno dei conglomerati industriali più orrendi della storia recente.
Nello specifico:
Feddit.it non vede Threads per una incompatibilità logica tra Lemmy e Threads (Threads non supporta i gruppi e Lemmy vede solo chi supporta i gruppi)
Citiverse.it non vede Threads semplicemente perché… a nessun utente di citiverse.it interessa nulla di Threads
Poliversity.it non blocca Threads, ma lo silenzia
Poliverso.org non blocca Threads, ma offusca i dati personali degli utenti di Poliverso al server di Threads
Quello che ho potuto riscontrare come utente abbastanza assiduo del Fediverso, come amministratore di 4 piccole istanze (oltre che come moderatore di un’istanza molto grande, come mastodon.uno) è che i contenuti di Threads sono una minoranza sparuta e che non ho mai visto contenuti problematici né ho mai ricevuto una sola segnalazione da parte di altri utenti.
Alla luce di quello che è avvenuto (cioè molto poco) è opportuno rivedere il nostro approccio verso Threads?
Ricapitolando le tre questioni più importanti:
Threads fa parte di un’azienda eticamente ributtante: no, questo non è cambiato e non cambierà mai
Threads rischia di invadere la timeline del Fediverso libero: questo non è ancora avvenuto e probabilmente non succederà
Threads rischia di riversare nel Fediverso contenuti raccapriccianti: neanche questo è avvenuto (ma se qualcuno tra voi ne trovasse contenuti problematici visibili dal Fediverso, ce lo segnali a @informapirata
Resta però un problema non secondario: la federazione tra Threads e il Fediverso è limitata e ritardata e, soprattutto, lo è per scelta deliberata di Meta.
Federazione limitata
Infatti gli utenti di Threads possono essere federati solo se vogliono (e alcuni semplicemente non lo sanno) e in ogni caso gli utenti europei non possono accedere al Fediverso. La motivazione? Alcune supercazzole sul GDPR e sul presunto rischio privacy del Fediverso.
Il risultato è che probabilmente solo una ventina di miliaia di persone sono effettvamente federate. Su Poliversity.it per esempio dei cento milioni di utenti attividi Threads (seh, vabbe’), sono solo più di un migliaio quelli conosciuti dalla nostra istanza I numeri Meta visti da Poliversity Per fare un esempio, l’istanza tedesca troet.cafe, con 47.000 utenti complessivi e poco più di 6.000 utenti attivi (numeri di oggi, ma con un picco massimo di 14.000 utenti attivi raggiunti due anni fa), presenta numeri più alti rispetto a Threads. Troet.cafe è un’istanza ben gestita dal suo amministratore @martinmuc ma l’abbiamo scelta proprio perché, essendo praticamente un’istanza che parla solo in lingua tedesca è estremamente “lontana” da un’istanza italofona come poliversity.it e quindi rappresenta un termine di paragone che sicuramente non distorce i dati a scapito di threads.net!
Ok, il problema probabilmente risiede semplicemente nel fatto che su Threads su poliversity è stata silenziata. Sarei tuttavia curioso di conoscere i dati di federazione di mastodon.social…
Oggi Threads (ovviamente) non ha rilasciato dati sugli utenti che effettivamente hanno deciso di federarsi con il Fediverso libero. Sta di fatto che gli studi che hanno cercato di sondare Threads non non hanno mai rilevato più di 20.000 utenti federati!
Mi chiedo se effettivamente federare Threads sia davvero un valore aggiunto…
Federazione limitata
Come se non bastasse, a tutti i post condivisi da Threads viene applicato un ritardo di 15 minuti per la distribuzione nel Fediverso libero. La motivazione ufficiale è che si è voluto far coincidere la finestra di modifica di un post con il ritardo della distribuzione nel Fediverso, ma è evidente come questa sia una scusa per recintare il giardino di Threads.
Sebbene molti amministratori del Fediverso abbiano avuto la presunzione di ritenere di poter tenere isolata “l’istanza” Threads, in realtà è Threads che sta isolando il Fediverso libero: Threads tiene il Fediverso in una perpetua anticamera e di fatto lo silenzia. Non si tratta di un rapporto simmetrico e il minimo che si possa fare è silenziarla. Ribadisco il mio dubbio: qual è il valore aggiunto di far entrare liberamente dentro la propria istanza i contenuti di Threads? Di fatto è come se Threads stesse facendo pubblicità a sé stesso sui nostri spazi, senza concederci però spazio. Il modello operativo di Threads è quello di consentire un “rapporto completo” con i propri utenti solo per chi sta dentro all’istanza; quello che l’istanza lascia trapelare all’esterno è solo pubblicità broadcast ed è pure pubblicità a trasmissione ritardata!
Le Fake news di Meta
Threads ha praticato un approccio estremamente scorretto: non solo ha di fatto segregato i propri utenti, ma ha spacciato ovunque l’idea della federazione in maniera maliziosa distribuendo qui in Europa (dove già avevano deciso che la federazione non sarebbe avvenuta) comunicati stampa falsi (puntualmente raccolti dalle peggiori testate on line) nei quali parlava di apertura al Fediverso. Ha cercato di usare il pubblico sensibile al concetto di Fediverso come mandria da mungere e il concetto di Fediverso l’ha usato come buzzword per rubare visibilità ai nostri progetti. Threads è a tutti gli effetti di una presenza ostile e come tale va contenuta, cercando di evitare estremismi ma mantenendo comunque una linea salda.
Non è questione di purezza, ma è questione di salvaguardia della concorrenza: la nostra impressione è che Meta stia giocando sporco e stia sfruttando l’apertura di gran parte del Fediverso libero per strappare utenti al Fediverso, che già ne perde troppi da solo.
Anche i modelli economici improntati al massimo liberismo puntano a salvaguardare il sistema degli scambi economici dagli attori che viziano il mercato facendo dumping perché si avvalgono di aiuti di stato o di sistemi basati sullo schiavismo.
Per rispettare pienamente il principio di apertura e federazione aperta è fondamentale almeno limitare chi ha deliberatamente scelto di chiudere di fatto l’accesso al Fediverso libero.
Proprio per questi motivi, non bloccheremo Threads, ma di certo manterremo il silenziamento!
@sabrinaweb71 Poliverso, in quanto server basato su Friendica può praticare questo offuscamento dei dati grazie allo sviluppo portato avanti da uno dei creatori di Friendica. Su Mastodon ci dobbiamo accontentare del semplice silenziamento.

Most of us know that a neon bulb requires a significant voltage to strike, in the region of 100 volts. There are plenty of circuits to make that voltage from a lower supply, should you wish to have that comforting glow of old, but perhaps one of the simplest comes from [meinsamayhun]. The neon is lit from a 9-volt battery, and the only other component is a relay.
What’s going on? It’s a simple mechanical version of a boost converter, with the relay wired as a buzzer. On each “off” cycle, the magnetic field in the coil collapses, and instead of being harvested by a diode as with a boost converter, it lights the neon. Presumably, the neon also saves the relay contacts from too much wear.

Last weekend was Supercon, and it was, in a word super. So many people sharing so much enthusiasm and hackery, and so many good times. It’s a yearly dose of hacker mojo that we as Hackaday staff absolutely cherish, and we heard the same from many of the participants as well. We always come away with new ideas for projects, or new takes on our current top-of-the-heap obsession.

Hull 096 has started charging, although it has only 85% of the over 5,000 lithium-ion batteries it will have when complete. The ship has a 40 megawatt-hour storage system with 12 banks of batteries, each consisting of 418 modules for a total of 5,016 cells. Each module has a fan, and special techniques prevent one hot cell from spreading. Charging in Australia comes from a grid running 100% renewable energy. When the ship enters service as a ferry between Argentina and Uruguay, a 40-minute charge will be different. Currently, Uruguay has about 92% of its power from renewable sources. Argentina still uses mostly natural gas, but 42% of its electricity is sourced from renewable generation.
The ship is 130 meters (426 feet) long, mostly aluminum, and has a reported capacity of 2,100 people and 225 vehicles per trip. Ferry service is perfect for electric ships — the distance is short, and it’s easy to schedule time to charge. Like all electric vehicles, though, the batteries won’t stay at full capacity for long. Typical ship design calls for a 20-year service life, and it’s not uncommon for a vessel to remain in service for 30 or even 40 years. But experts expect the batteries on the ferry will need to be replaced every 5 to 10 years.
While electric ferries may become common, we don’t expect to see electric cargo ships plying the ocean soon. Diesel is hard to beat for compact storage and high energy density. There are a few examples of cargo ships using electric, though. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t build your own electric watercraft.

Le ultime dichiarazioni di Sam Altman, CEO di OpenAI, in merito al progresso dell’intelligenza artificiale (IA) non sono molto incoraggianti, in quanto ha recentemente affermato di essere preoccupato per “l’impatto dell’IA sui posti di lavoro”e ha anche chiarito che non saremo al sicuro nemmeno in un bunker “se l’IA sfugge al controllo” .
Ma non è tutto, perché in una recente intervista l’AD di OpenAI ha dichiarato senza mezzi termini che dovremmo preoccuparci del futuro che l’intelligenza artificiale ci porterà: “Penso che succederà qualcosa di brutto con l’intelligenza artificiale”.
Come riporta un articolo di Investopedia, un mese fa Sam Altman ha partecipato a un’intervista per il videopodcast a16z della società di venture capital Andreessen Horowitz e ha colto l’occasione per dire che si aspetta che accadano cose brutte a causa dell’intelligenza artificiale:“Spero che a causa della tecnologia non accadano cose davvero brutte”.
Come potete vedere nell’intervista qui sotto, Altman si riferiva a Sora, uno strumento di generazione video lanciato a fine settembre da OpenAI che è rapidamente diventato l’app più scaricata sull’App Store negli Stati Uniti. Ciò ha portato a un’ondata di deepfake creati da questo modello, che hanno inondato i social media con video con personaggi come Martin Luther King Jr. e altri personaggi pubblici come lo stesso Altman.
In effetti, Altman è apparso in questi video mentre compiva varie attività criminali, come potete vedere in questa Instagram Story. Ma non è tutto, poiché Altman ha anche affermato che strumenti come Sora necessitano di controlli per impedire che questa tecnologia venga utilizzata per scopi dannosi: “Molto presto il mondo dovrà vedersela con incredibili modelli video in grado di fingere chiunque o di mostrare qualsiasi cosa si voglia”.
Allo stesso modo, il creatore di ChatGPT ha affermato che, invece di perfezionare questo tipo di tecnologia a porte chiuse, la società e l’intelligenza artificiale dovrebbero collaborare per “co-evolversi” e “non si può semplicemente lasciare tutto alla fine“.

Microsoft ha annunciato la creazione di un nuovo team chiamato MAI Superintelligence Team, che mira a sviluppare un’intelligenza artificiale “sovrumana” specializzata nella diagnostica medica. Lo riporta Reuters. Il progetto è guidato da Mustafa Suleiman, ex co-fondatore di DeepMind e Inflection AI.
Secondo Suleiman, il nuovo team non mira a sviluppare un’intelligenza generale (AGI) in grado di svolgere qualsiasi compito umano, ma piuttosto a concentrarsi su “modelli esperti” che raggiungeranno livelli di accuratezza sovrumani in aree specifiche, principalmente la diagnosi medica. Questo, afferma, è un primo passo verso lo sviluppo di capacità di intelligenza artificiale che rileveranno le malattie prima degli esseri umani e potranno prolungare la durata e la qualità della vita dei pazienti.
Ha affermato che Microsoft ha un piano concreto e chiaro per sviluppare entro due o tre anni un sistema di intelligenza artificiale che supererà in accuratezza gli esperti umani nelle diagnosi mediche.
